Utgarde Castle

The Vrykulian fortress Utgarde Towers is located in the middle of the Howling Fjord. Within its massive walls is the first instance in Northrend. Since it is intended for beginners, no special equipment is needed here. Newbies starting at level 70 can get some nice items here that will make further leveling easier. Your party should consist of a tank, a healer and three damage dealers. Classes with control abilities like Transfiguration or Penance will help you with larger groups of enemies.

Don’t forget quests

Horde followers get one more quest than Alliance champions. The High Enforcer Anselm in Vengeance Haven orders you to seek out Prince Keleseth in the castle after a long series of quests. The latter is the Scourge’s ambassador in the Howling Fjord and thus responsible for the attacks on the Horde city. Right at the beginning of the instance you’ll also meet the Dark Walker Marrah. Not only does she task you with stealing five Vrykul weapons, but also with killing Ingvar the castle lord. In addition, you are to cut off Ingvar the Marauder’s head.

A hot start

As soon as you enter the instance, the first Vrykul warriors will attack. Pull off the groups one by one, and you won’t get any surprise. After a few enemies, you’ll find yourself in the castle’s large forge. This is where the Northmen make all kinds of war materials. This includes the weapons you’ll need to take with you for the Disarm adventure. Here you will encounter groups of up to four enemies. Be especially wary of the Weaponsmith’s “Cleave” ability and take out the attackers one by one. Run counterclockwise through the forge. With each defeated group, a wall of flames is extinguished and the path to the stables with the proto-drakes opens.
