In Alterac Valley, the motto is often Zergen. Still, it’s one of the most popular battlegrounds for quick honor, as the constant slaughter rains honor points no matter who wins.
Overview
40 players at a time battle in the icy valleys of the Alterac Mountains for dominance of the area. Attacking enemy positions is an important strategic component. Of course, you must not neglect the defense of your own garrisons, so as not to give the enemy an advantage.
Requirements for victory
Each faction starts with 600 supply points. The goal is to completely deplete the enemy’s supply points. However, if you kill the general of the opposing faction, the battlefield is immediately won. If one of your allies dies, you lose one point. The captains entrenched in their respective garrisons in the center of the battlefield are worth 100 points, while one of each of the four towers or bunkers is worth 75 points. Each of the two mines gives you back one supply point every 45 seconds.
Battlefield layout and features
The Alliance Champion starts in the north of the battlefield, while the Wild Horde rides into Alterac Valley from the south. This is also where the main forts are located and the general who must be killed. There are also two towers/bunkers in front of the fortress that you should destroy or defend.
Two more towers/bunkers are located in the middle of the battlefield. There is also the garrison where you can kill the captains. The two mines are located in the north and west of the map. There are also seven graveyards in Alterac Valley, which serve as resurrection points. But you have to capture them first. First, the three southern cemeteries belong to the Horde, while the three northern ones belong to the Alliance. In the center you’ll find another graveyard that doesn’t belong to any faction at the beginning of the game.
