WoW Gear and Game Modes – PvP Overview

With the fifth WoW expansion, Blizzard has put the PvP content in a new light. Among other things, Ashran introduces a full PvP zone for level 100 characters only. We summarize what you need to know about PvP in Warlords of Draenor.

With the introduction of Ashran, the level 100-only PvP zone, Warlords of Dreanor has partially realigned the focus of WoW. Unlike already known zones of this kind, like Wintergrasp from Wrath of the Lich King or Tol Barad from Cataclysm, Ashran tries to create a permanent battlefield for Alliance and Horde. It’s very reminiscent of the day-long Alterac Valley battles in the 1960s World of Warcraft.

However, a lot has happened in PvP since then, and Warlords of Draenor has made some changes in this area as well. To help you prepare for Ashran and PvP in general, we’ve put together an overview of the most important questions and answers:

What has changed in PvP with Warlords of Draenor?

The introduction of new secondary stats also affects PvP. For example, the value “Versatility” moves into focus, as it increases the damage dealt and reduces the damage taken at the same time. Values such as PvP Power and Resistance no longer exist.

What else has changed?

The general reduction in class abilities has, of course, had an impact on PvP. Many control spells like Disarm or Silence have been completely removed from the game for the most part. Also, the total duration of stackable control effects has been reduced. As a result, you now have to use your control spells more selectively, while no longer spending what feels like an eternity in fear, turmoil, and the like.

What equipment is available for PvP?

There are three different sets for PvP in Warlords of Draenor. You can buy them for honor or conquest points. You can also get them in the Battlegrounds treasuries, in Ashran, as well as through work orders in the “Gladiator’s Sanctuary” – a middle building in the Garrison.

PvP equipment is divided into three levels:

Item Level 600 (660): Lockers and work orders have a chance to receive level 600 PvP gear.

Item Level 620 (675): With a bit of luck, you can get this equipment from lockers and work orders. In addition, these are the items that you can normally buy for honor.

Both sets are also available in Warforged form. However, only through vaults – you can’t buy warforged items for honor points.

Item Level 660 (690): This equipment is purchased for conquest points.

Unlike Mists of Pandaria, PvE gear is not downgraded for PvP. Instead, the item level of PvP gear is increased in the Arena, Battlegrounds, and Ashran. The advantage of this is that PvP gear is essential for PvP zones, and at the same time, gear for honor points with an item level of 620 is better than loot in normal level 100 instances.

However, Blizzard differentiates the level of PvP item upgrades between PvP zones. In Ashran, the item level of PvP gear increases to 660, 675, and 690, respectively. In the Arena and Battleground, the PvP gear item level increases to a value of 705.

Where can I buy the PvP gear (Alliance/Hordes)?

Horde: Enter Ashran and find the Undead Warlord Noktyn. You can buy PvP gear from him for honor points. Keep left as you enter Ashran. He stands in the middle of the path in front of a large building. Right next to him you’ll find the Tauren General Aevd, who sells PvP gear for capture points.

If you are not called to fight for Ashran, you can also go to Shadow Hunter Gar’ant in your faction capital Warspear. You can find him in the building where the bankers and faction quartermasters are also located. He will also sell you PvP gear for honor.

Alliance: Enter Ashran and find the dwarf Marshal Karsh Stormforge. You can buy PvP gear from him for honor points. You can find him in the first building on the right as you enter Ashran. Marshall Gabriel sells PvP gear for capture points.

If you are not called to fight for Ashran, you can also go to Austin Feeney in your faction capital Stormshield. You can find him in the southernmost of all buildings. He will also sell you PvP gear for honor.

Attention: Currently (as of November 27th, 2014) the PvP traders for conquest points are deactivated. Due to a bug, it was possible to collect Conquest Points before the start of the Arena – Season . In the first few days, some players were even able to buy level 660 items. Conquest Points can no longer be purchased for the time being, and points already earned will be exchanged for Honor at the start of the Arena – Season . Items already purchased for Conquest will be downgraded to item level 620.

on general PvP and Honor and Conquest points in Warlords of Dranor

With the introduction of Ashran, Skirmish, and Lockboxes, the effort and acquisition of PvP gear changes quite a bit. Here is an overview of the fastest ways to get honor points and PvP items:

Ashran:The new PvP zone for all level 100 players offers different ways to gain honor. In addition to the main battle, which keeps shifting along the path between the two camps, there are four different side scenes. In each of these areas you can complete a bonus goal once, just like with leveling. Each of these bonus objectives grants you 500 honor points. In these

areas there are always events that reward you with 250 honor points if you succeed – every time. In addition, you will receive Artifact Fragments on Ashran for looting other player characters, enemies or treasure. You can also exchange these 1:1 for honor points. Additionally, Ashran is perfect for collecting Broken Bones and completing the Nemesis quest.

Skirmishes: You can register alone or in a group for 2v2 or 3v3 skirmishes. A Skirmish is an unranked variant of Arena. Only if you win, you can expect rewards in the form of honor points, depending on the duration of the fight (usually 35 to 50 honor points), and a strongbox.

Battlefields: In addition to the bonus honor for the daily victory in the battlefield, there are also lockboxes here depending on the outcome of the battle. For a win you get a golden steel lockbox. If you lose, but perhaps have caught two flags or are only narrowly defeated in points, you will still receive a silver steel lock box. For a clear defeat there is only a bronze steel lockbox.

Gladiator’s Sanctum Work Orders: Here you can get honor, PvP gear, gold, Apexis crystals and, starting with the new Arena – Season , also capture points again. More information about the Gladiator’s Sanctuary can be found below under “Gladiator’s Sanctuary”.

Arena and Rated Battlegrounds: There is no longer a difference in the weekly capture point cap between Arena and Rated Battlegrounds. If you’ve already reached your weekly cap of Conquest Points, you can use a Signet of Forged Fate for a chance at additional PvP gear after a win in Rated Battlegrounds.

Do my stats also change in PvP if I change my specialization?

As with items in PvE, once you change your specialization, the main attributes of PvP gear will also change. Trinkets, rings, necklaces, cloaks, and weapons are unaffected. The set bonuses of the PvP sets also change by specialization.

When does the new PvP – Season start?

On December 3rd the new PvP – Season in Warlords of Draenor starts – from then on there will be equipment for conquest points. This marks the start of Warlord – Season 1, not PvP – Season 16. 100 wins in 3v3 ranked play will again earn you a special mount in Walords of Draenor: the Vicious Warraptor.

Are there any requirements for the PvP weapons?

Yes and no. If you want to buy weapons for conquest points, you have to earn a total of 7,250 conquest points as usual. Since the weapons cost 3,500 capture points, it makes sense to save up from 3,750 capture points so that you can buy the weapon directly as soon as you reach the sum of 7,250 points. The weapons that you can buy for honor points are available without any prerequisites. You can buy the items with an item level of 620 or 675 directly for 3,500 honor points.

Gladiator’s Sanctum?

The Gladiator’s Sanctum is a medium-sized garrison building that provides you with honor, gold, capture points, PvP gear, and Apexis Crystals through work orders. As with all buildings, you can issue up to 21 work orders there, depending on the upgrade. You need “Broken Bones” as a resource for this. You get this for killing characters of the opposing faction – no deathblow needed. At level 2 you can accept a quest line that rewards you with various titles. If you complete all so-called “Nemesis” quests, the title beckons: “Warlord of Draenor”! You unlock the blueprints for level 3 of the Gladiator’s Sanctum with an achievement for which you have to loot a total of 4,000 Broken Bones. Then you get access to the Highmaul Coliseum – a free-for-all arena. If you’re the last survivor, there’s a nice title here, among other things: “Lord of War”.

Conclusion:
WoW: One of four events in Ashran requires real backbreaking work from you.

Collecting PvP gear is faster than ever in Warlords of Draenor. Through the events in Ashran, skirmishes, and strongboxes, you quickly collect the honor points for your PvP equipment. Then there is the fact that you only have to exchange a few items when changing the specialization. So if you don’t know what to do with your Honor Points, you can exchange them for Seals of Forged Fate, the bonus throw tokens for Warlords of Draenor’s raids and rated battlegrounds. You can find the dealers for this as follows:

Alliance: Fateweaver Seress – you can find him at the southernmost point of Stormshield.
Horde: Fateweaver Tiklal – you can find him at the westernmost point of Warspear.

Since November 21st, celebrating the 10th anniversary of World of Warcraft, the 40v40 Southshore vs. Tarren Mill battleground has been available and upon victory grants the title: Terror of Tarren Mill for the Alliance and Butcher of Southshore for the Alliance the horde. The birthday will be celebrated until January 5, 2015.
