WoW: Dragonflight: Get different Battle Rezz

When the WoW developers announced a few days ago in an interview that another class in the game will be equipped with a so-called , it was not yet 100 percent clear which class or playstyle would get the honor. With the start of the WoW: Dragonflight beta, however, we now know that Ion Hazzikostas remembered correctly in the interview and it has indeed become the Paladin.

Now both the and the healer and damage dealer can revive a fallen teammate in battle. In doing so, the Battle Rezz works slightly differently depending on what role we’re in. What sounds strange at first glance, but makes perfect sense.

WoW : Character service finally offers announced feature

Already a few weeks ago the new feature for WoW WotLK Classic was announced and since the pre-patch it is finally available.

WoW: Dragonflight: At this position hide the dragon islands

With the launch of the WoW: Dragonflight beta, we now know the position of the Dragon Islands on the world map.

Spell Time or Holy Power?

During the Intercession Battle Rezz is free for healers and damage dealers, but has a short casting time of 1.5 seconds, so tanks can cast it on the fly. In return, however, it costs them three points of Holy Power. This makes sense both gameplay-wise and in terms of equality – at least partially.

  • The revival of the Holy Paladin is based on that of the Restoration Druid. It costs no resources and has a very short casting time. So Intercession is not really better or worse.
  • The revival of the Retaliator Paladin works the same way. A short casting time and no resource cost. Thus, it is similar to that of the Equilibrium Druid or Warlock.
  • The revival of the Protection Paladin On the other hand, costs three points of Holy Power, but has no casting time. It is thus in line with Ally Raise Blood Death Knight or Guardian Druid Resurrection.

Only the Death Knight’s DpS playstyles fall out a bit. This is because they have to spend resources on it, but don’t have to wait spell time, making their Ally Awakening more like the Battle Rezz of tanks.

Bring the player, not the class

In terms of fairness, this all looks very good and many players are surprised that the WoW developers thought this far instead of just throwing a new Battle Rezz spell into the game. This also preserves the fact that tanks have the most to lose from a battle resurrection and should usually leave that to healers or damage dealers.

Also, and this is especially important, no one rezz is better than another. So it won’t be the case that you’d rather have class A for the Battle Rezz after all, and only bring in class B as a stopgap. However, the WoW developers remain true to the “bring the player, not the class” line.

How do you like the Battle Rezz of the Paladins? Does it add value to the Holy Knights or was it completely unnecessary for the developers to give another class the ability to resurrect in battle? Which class would you have given the Battle Rezz to if you could have decided?
