WoW Classic: Warlock in the endgame – our guide with all important information

The endgame presents you with different challenges than modern WoW. In this , you’ll learn what wizards need to watch out for. We’ll go over the best consumables, give on choosing a race and profession, compare skills, and give rotation tips.

The wizard is a magical class with a relatively high health count, handy curses, and great CC abilities. In exchange, you have to deal with the fact that you don’t have any special cooldown magic in the DpS range and the standard spell Shadowbolt encounters resistances. In the following four pages, we will explain how to master the challenges in the endgame with your wizard. As far as builds go, we’ll limit ourselves to a single playstyle that has proven popular and effective in raids: Demonic Sacrifice, or DS for short. But before we get down to the nitty-gritty and introduce you to this playstyle, we’ll explain factors such as consumables, soul fragments in Classic, the best equipment, important skills, and also go over your demonic companions and the ideal people for aspiring sorcerers.

Who has the best sorcerers?
Aspiring sorcerers are limited in their choice of races. The Horde can only send orcs and undead to wizard school, while the Alliance has gnomish and human wizards. If you don’t care about roleplaying or aesthetics, there are clear winners on both sides. While the differences in stats are negligible, there are important racial abilities. Will of the Forsaken allows undead characters to negate nasty mechanics from dungeon and raid bosses, as the ability makes them immune to fear, sleep, or spells for 5 seconds. They can also activate the ability if they are already affected by such an effect. On the other hand, there is the passive bonus Command Orcs, which grants companions five percent more damage. As a wizard, you don’t have to rely on the direct damage of the companions in the endgame anyway.

Gnomes have an excellent passive ability Awakening Spirit, which generally grants them a five percent increase in intelligence. This increases both their mana pool and critical hit chance with each new piece of equipment. Humans instead receive a five percent increase in Willpower, but this stat is not nearly as important as Intelligence for warlocks. As icing on the cake, gnomes can use the Unleash Artist ability, which allows them to dodge effects that restrict their movement.

Professions for Warlocks in Classic?
Warlocks and other adventurers naturally prefer to spend their time defeating monsters, but they all have several professions. The warlock should be best versed in tailoring and engineering. This way you can not only earn some gold in the leveling phase and create your own rift. With items like the Robe of the Void (the recipe is a rare drop in Scholomance), you can make your own BiS garment that will serve you well until level 3 or 4 raid levels. Engineering, on the other hand, is all about the big hits: the explosive charges and bombs you craft as an engineer add neatly to your DpS and work wonders on groups of enemies. Later, when it comes to raids like Ahn’Qiraj or Naxxramas, it also pays to craft engineer pets like the Arcanite Dragonling. The little fluttery guy can make bosses more sensitive to fire damage, boosting the DpS of the mages in your party. In Molten Core or Blackwing Lair, you can use the Gnome Battle Chicken instead, which supports melee combat.
