Wow Classic was a great success for Blizzard. In the first re-release, they had set on making hardly any changes to the gameplay. Now they are planning far-reaching changes for the relaunch of the servers, from the level speed to the raid bosses.
The new WoW Classic will be significantly different from the original
Before the re-launch of the first version of WoW in 2019 under the heading “Classic”, there had been a hot debate in the community about whether and where Blizzard should possibly make adjustments to the gameplay of the cult title. However, the developer had then decided not to lay a hand on the mechanics in favor of an “authentic experience”. Regarding the upcoming relaunch of the WoW Classic servers, Blizzard now only writes about a “few small changes” that are planned for the new start. However, these will definitely change the gameplay significantly.
Significantly faster to level up
The adjustments start with the speed of leveling up. The developers plan to adjust the gain of experience points and the leveling requirements for levels 1-60 to the level of Burning Crusade. Players should be rewarded with significantly more XP, especially for completing quests. Overall, the leveling time should be reduced by about 30 percent with the planned adjustments.
Finally collect and gather more
While in WoW Classic you were always allowed to make your own way to your adventures without the help of a warlock during the first release, Blizzard is planning a change here for the reboot that is supposed to “improve” the player experience here. The gathering stones, which are located in front of instances and raids, will be converted into summoning stones that allow players to teleport.
In addition, Blizzard admits that the denser population of servers will require an adjustment in resources for gathering professions – a loud criticism from the community. “More regular occurrences should make for a more coherent economy this time around,” the developers say
Raid bosses harder
Last but not least, you also significantly intervene in the hardest content of the game: raids. The experience and “better preparation” of the players had ensured in 2019 that this content was much easier to overcome than in the original. With four quite far-reaching adjustments, the raid bosses should be more challenging in this year’s reboot:
- Global buff effects (such as ‘Battlecry of the Dragonslayer’ and others) are disabled in raid instances
- Mechanics that were removed from some raid bosses are restored
- No limit on boss debuff effects (instead of the 16 debuff effects in WoW Classic).
- Increased health for bosses to compensate for player buffs and the removed limit on debuffs
