“The Red Crystal” is a WoW Classic quest in Dark Coast, where – as the name suggests – you have to find a red crystal. But since that’s easier said than done, we’ll explain in this quick tip where exactly the quest item is located and what it’s all about.
Quests that require us to find a certain item have always been plentiful in World of Warcraft. However, players in WoW Classic have to be much more patient than in WoW Shadowlands, because originally there were no quest markers on the world map in WoW. This makes the quest “The Red Crystal” in Dark Coast a real challenge for WoW Classic players. We’ll explain how to find the red crystal for the quest of the same name and what else you need to keep in mind.
Beware of the Moonkin!
The quest “The Red Crystal” starts at the shield guard Glynda Nal’Shea in Auberdine. The night elf instructs you to find a large red crystal on the eastern mountain range of Dark Coast. This is easier said than done, as the mountain range runs completely north to south through all of Darkcoast.
Fortunately, the crystal does not vary its position, but is always at a fixed location, namely at coordinates 47/48. If you don’t use a map addon with coordinates, you can orientate yourself by the world map: The crystal is located on a hill east of Auberdine, a bit east of the place on the map where the lower stroke of the letter “E” in “Auberdine” is noted on the map. It is best to approach the hill from the north to be able to climb it.
However, as you approach the crystal, be aware that there are several angry Moonkin in the vicinity. These enemies of the levels 13 to 14 can be bulldozed very easily and often come towards you in larger groups. If you want to be on the safe side, you can fight your way through the Mondkin one by one. You can also try to just run through the enemies and click on the crystal. Once you’ve interacted with the crystal, you can use your rest stone to port yourself back to Auberdine.
Once you have turned in the quest “The Red Crystal” to the Shield Guard in Auberdine, you will receive a follow-up quest called “When the Water Flows.” For this quest, you must now fill up the Moonwell Water Tube right next to the quest giver at the Moonwell and run back to the Red Crystal you visited earlier with it. Again, watch out for the moonkins. Then head back to Auberdine for the final quest, “The Fragments Within,” which you’ll get directly from the red crystal.
We hope that our short guide will make the quest series for the red crystal in Auberdine a little easier for you and wish you good luck in completing it and fighting the Moonkin!
What is WoW Classic?
