Phase 3 in World of Warcraft Classic opens the Blackwing Lair raid, and as a hunter, you only want to take the crème de la crème of companions along with good equipment for a successful raid. Here we present you the best classic hunter companions for all situations.
Unlike in “retail WoW”, the selection of the hunter companion in World of Warcraft Classic is of comparatively high importance. The standardization of companion skills did not exist here yet, which made taming and training companions a complex, exciting game in the game and made the hunter one of the most popular classes from the very beginning. In WoW Classic, you can have a maximum of three companions – two with the stable master and one that you carry with you. Therefore, in the following we will introduce you to the “top 3” hunter pets that will provide you with all-around protection.
WoW Classic: The three best hunter pets
Worg the Blood Axe
Wolves are the best PvE pets because they can Howl of Fury. You can get Howl of Rage from any wolf, but the Blood Axe Worg of Lower Blackrock Spire (LBRS) has the highest rank of Howl of Rage at rank 4, and it is highly recommended to tame it if you are planning a raid. Also, the Worg of the Blood Axe comes with rank 8 Bite and rank 3 Sprint.
Broken Tooth
Broken Tooth belongs to the cat family. Like most cats, he is an offensive pet and has a special ability, Sneak, that is useful but not great. What makes Broken Tooth unique is his unusually high attack speed. The Rare Mountain Lion of the Wasteland has the highest attack speed in the game, striking 1 time per second (compared to attack speeds between 1.2 and 2.5 seconds). A broken tooth does not cause extra damage compared to other cats, as is often mistakenly assumed, since each of its abilities hits half as hard. Its strength lies in PvP due to its comparatively insane attack speed, where it permanently delays the casting of spells, and in the wild in its fast and reliable threat buildup.
Son of Hakkar
Son of Hakkar is also an offensive pet. He belongs to the Wind Snake family and possesses the unique ability Lightning Breath. Since Lightning Breath deals nature damage, it ignores the target’s armor stats, unlike physical attacks. The Son of Hakkar is special in that he is the only Wind Serpent that possesses Rank 6 of Lightning Breath. He didn’t appear until the release of Zul’Gurub in Phase 4 of WoW Classic, but until then, Rank 5 of Lightning Breath obtained from the rare Wind Serpent Arash-ethis in Feralas is also very useful, as are the Wind Serpents that Hakkari obtains in the Temple of Atal’Hakkar.
