In WoW Classic, there is neither a dungeon browser nor a LFG tool. Therefore, most people search in the capital’s trade chat or use the official channel for group search. However, there are two other ways to find teammates for your cause. To do this, you’ll need to join the unofficial channels.
In our short guide to finding the party channel in WoW Classic (Buy Now), we already showed you how to avoid the annoying trade chat spam through groups for dungeons. However, besides the official Find-For-Group chat, there are two other unofficial channels that you should definitely join in WoW Classic. First, there is the LFG chat, which you join by typing /join LFG in the chat. Just like the official LFG channel, you’ll have the option to follow the group search even if you’re not in the capital, where players are usually searched for in the trade channel.
Here you will find some players who are used to using an unofficial group search channel on private servers, or who have not yet learned about the official feature from our brief guide. The world channel is probably already used by most ex-private server players and is even more important than the LFG channel. So type /join world into the chat.
The world channel is there for what it says. This is also where players look for groups, but primarily for quests, announcements for upcoming world buffs through Onyxia’s head for example, or help when you get ganked again. So more than the group search comes together here, who still needs a certain class for a dungeon or raid will still find it here.
When using the World and LFG channels, in addition to the spam, which actually has nothing in common with the channel, you have to accept that this is a chat channel created by players and therefore an important rule applies: the owner of the channel (and thus over all rights of the channel enabled) is always the player who has been online the longest of all other users. If such a bully should become the owner of the channel and kick everyone out, you just have to join them again. It is best to create your own chat tab for these two channels.
What is WoW Classic?
World of Warcraft Classic is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.
