WoW Classic: Shadow of the Necropolis – The Scariest Event Ever Gallery!

, scheduled for release in summer 2019, will be based on the “Drums of War” patch 1.12, the developers announced at Blizzcon. Although 1.12 was the last major patch before the Burning Crusade expansion, Classic content will be unlocked gradually after launch. Patch 1.11 for Shadows of Necropolis introduced the 40-player Naxxramas raid, which at the time was based in the Eastern Plaguelands before moving to Northrend. Today we bring you the associated server-wide , “Invasion of the Scourge,” with many original screenshots from 2006!

The “Scourge Invasion” was a world event in the June 19, 2006 World of Warcraft Classic Patch 1.11 “Shadow of the Necropolis” that heralded the opening of Naxxramas, the citadel of the dreaded Kel’Thuzad. It was later reintroduced into the game with Harbingers of Doom patch 3.0.2 during the Zombie Infestation event in preparation for the Wrath of the Lich King expansion and adjusted to the new level cap of 70. It is also the only non– Season al world event that has ever been repeated.

In the gallery below, we have a lot of pictures of this event for you, taken in June and July 2006 on the EU server Cenarion Circle. We start off with some event-related quests that grant various reputation items and weapon upgrades, followed by some impressions of the necropolises that hit areas like Durotar, Tirisfal Glades, Winterspring and of course the Plaguelands, dropping Scourge rakes of varying strength. Have fun with it!
