WoW Classic: Players have stopped wanting to have fun – eSportsNews eSports WoW Classic

The game fun of Classic is massively clouded. The main problem here is the new mentality of players from more modern games.

After the outstanding launch of World of Warcraft Classic, many players believed that they had arrived in the “promised land” of again. A nostalgic trip with a long leveling phase, social contacts and many small adventures.

But this dream is in danger of being shattered, because the fun of playing WoW Classic is being massively tarnished. The culprit seems to be a mentality that is more suited to modern games.

What’s going on? In WoW Classic, and especially on the PvP realms, the mood is lousy. The introduction of the honor system has thrown many realms into complete chaos. Horde and Alliance don’t meet for “chaotic PvP at Tarren’s Mill” as it was many years ago, but they plow through the entire world, ganking players at every turn and going for the most effective way to play.

WoW Classic PvP Battlegrounds Patch Notes

Battlegrounds also did not bring the desired redemption. Because instead of experiencing long Alterac Valley or exciting battles in Warsong Gulch, you just run through Alterac Valley and kill the bosses. There is hardly any real PvP, which led to great dissatisfaction.

Addons made stress: Addons also caused increased pressure to perform among players. The “Spy” addon in particular, which warned players early on who all was to be found in the vicinity, changed the game significantly.

Whereas previously only a few isolated players used it, now almost the entire PvP community does. This changes the gameplay massively. If you don’t use these addons, you feel like you’re falling behind and you’re not as effective as your fellow players.

Players vent displeasure: On Reddit, user hockeylife17 asks, “When did people stop wanting to have fun?” In his short thread, he gets upset that everyone only cares about perfect optimization and that this has slowly but surely killed the fun. Addons like Spy, the permanent griefing of other players or the ruining of the realm Flamelash. He receives a lot of encouragement on Reddit – more than 10,00 upvotes and many awards.

The problem was already apparent: However, this is not entirely new. Even before that, many players started putting in-game effectiveness above other things. For example, there were many pure “farm groups” for dungeons that consisted only of mages. Others were looking for the most effective level routes and weren’t afraid to take advantage of the layering mechanic.

Can Blizzard help? Many a player is calling for help from Blizzard, hoping that they will make adjustments to make the game more fun – such as changing the Alterac Valley to an earlier patch level. Currently, there is hardly any PvP here, but the players simply run past each other without fighting. That’s the most effective way to farm reputation.

But how do you see the whole thing? Should Blizzard do something about it? Or is the community itself to blame, because parts of them are so eager for success?
