If you want to use your mage in WoW Classic to create extra useful water and turn your enemies into pigs, then check out this guide! We’ll tell you what you need to do for both spells that you can’t learn from the class trainer!
Some classes in WoW (buy now)Classic gain access to exclusive quest lines at level 60, most of which lead to very special rewards. These class quests are sometimes quite easy to complete, sometimes they require a lot of perseverance. Particularly famous in this category, for example, is the Wizard class quest. In case you don’t know what we’re talking about: At level 60, wizards can take on a series of quests, at the end of which they are rewarded with the class mount Dreadsteed – an epic mount with maximum speed, which many players in Classic simply can’t afford. This requires not only valuable resources from the Witcher, but also the investment of quite a bit of work and time. Besides such crazy, almost legendary quest lines, there are also simpler, class-specific quests with cool rewards. No matter if simple or complicated – from now on we will present you the special quests for one class every month here.
We’ll start the series with the two quests for the mage class. By completing these quests, you’ll get a variation of your Transfiguration spell and learn how to summon stronger and more useful water. Let’s go!
Transformation: Pig
It’s common knowledge in WoW that mages can turn their opponents into harmless sheep for a short time. But did you know that you can also turn your opponents into pigs? For this you need the tome of transformation: Pig. When you acquire this booklet, you will learn a variant of the Transfiguration spell. From now on you can choose whether you prefer Transfiguration: Sheep or Transfiguration: Pig. In terms of functionality, the two spells are absolutely identical. But who doesn’t want to annoy their opponents from time to time…?
The Archmage in Azshara
To learn this special variant of the transformation spell, you must have reached level 60 with your mage. Travel to Kalimdor in the region of Azshara. Horde mages simply teleport to Orgrimmar and then travel north. Alliance mages should teleport to Darnassus and then continue their journey via Flight Master. If you cannot fly directly to Azshara, it is best to land in Astranaar in Ashenvale and continue on foot from there.
To accept the quest, head to the foot of the mountains west of the ruins of Eldarath. There, the bored blood elf Sanath Lim-yo is waiting for you, and he will give you the quest “Meet the Master”. At your request, he will teleport you to his master, the archmage Xylem. This human mage lives quite isolated in his tower in the middle of the mountains and cannot be reached by any other means.
Transform them all!
Speaking to Archmage Xylem will grant you the Warlord Krellian quest. To do this, you must travel to the nearby ruins of Eldarath and knock out the naga in the largest building in the ruins. From him you loot the quest item Prismatic Shell. Return it to Archmage Xylem, show him the shell and receive the follow-up quest “Cleaved Magic”. Now, with the conch in your luggage, seek out the Grudge Fins – actually all the naga that creep and swear in the ruins of Eldarath. Transform them into sheep with your transformation spell and wait a moment for your magic shell to do its work. The shell splits the transformed naga into several smaller copies, which you now have to kill quickly. This will collect their essences in the Wonder Clam. Once you’ve drained 50 essences, you may return to Archmage Xylem. As a reward, he will give you the Tome of Transfiguration: Pig. All that remains to be said is: pig!
Conjure Water (Rank 7)
It’s no coincidence that magicians in WoW: Classic are referred to as vending machines. Water to replenish mana is expensive and required by all mana classes. It’s no wonder then that the party or raid mage has the honorable task of providing all comrades with cool drinks – after all, it doesn’t cost the mage more than a little mana! However, in order to draw the best possible water from the Twisting Nether, you must first learn Conjure Water, rank 7. And it goes like this:
Best water for everyone!
Obviously, typical magician teachers are stingy with their knowledge. You won’t learn everything there is to know about the fine art of conjuring up food and water from your teachers. All you learn from your mage trainer is Conjure Water: Rank 6. With it, you conjure up two measly bottles of sparkling water that restore 2,934 points of mana over 30 seconds. Does the teacher have any idea how long it would take to feed a full raid?! It’s better with Conjure Water: Rank 7. The crystal water you summon with this spell is not only better (it restores 4,200 mana points), but you also get ten bottles at once! But to make your life easier you have to put in a little work and travel to Feralas. A good Horde flight point is Camp Mojache. Alliance players can use the Feathermoon Fortress flight point.
Arcane refreshment in Dire Maul
The hero of the hour who knows about this essential mage spell resides in the Library in Dire Maul aka Dire Maul (Dire Maul – North, Gordok Halls). That said, to complete this quest you’ll need to take some friends with you, because the journey will take you straight into a high-level instance. Although you can enter Dire Maul from level 48, you must be level 60 to start this quest. So: Recruit some friends, travel to Dire Maul and visit the library in the Athenaeum. The quickest way to get there is to jump down the ramp onto the lawn right at the entrance to the instance and sneak past the ogres by the campfire. This will bring you to a door with a short passage behind it that will take you directly to the Dire Maul Library. The somewhat distracted night elf keeper of knowledge Lydros is already waiting for you there. And he’s not stingy with his knowledge! If you talk to him, he will give you the quest “Arcane Refreshment”.
Water from the Hydrospawn
Lydros wants you to have a Hydrospawn Essence for research purposes. You get it by defeating the water elemental hydrospawn in the Wucherbarkenviertel (Dir Maul – East). To do this, speak to the imp Pusillin directly at the entrance to the instance and then chase him through the corridors until he is finally ready to fight you. Then turn back and go back part of the way until you come across a room full of satyrs. Here you must destroy some satyrs so that you are able to reach a spiral staircase. As you descend the stairs you will find a stone room at the bottom where the hydrospawn lurk in a turquoise-blue pool of water.
Before you jump on the boss, you should kill the satyrs that populate this room. The Hydrospawn will occasionally summon geysers that deal Frost damage and throw nearby players across the room – and you don’t want to make the fight more exciting than it already is with additional enemies. Once you’ve beaten the elemental down to 50 percent of its health, it splits into two smaller hydrolings. These slow and knock back players hit by their HYDRO BEAM attacks. This is more of a nuisance than dangerous – if you’ve cleaned the room properly before the fight.
Return to Lydros
For defeating the Hydrospawn you will be rewarded with the quest item Essence of Hydrospawn. Take it back to the Keeper of Knowledge Lydros. He doesn’t know exactly who you are anymore, but he teaches you the seventh rank of conjuring up water simply because you’re a magician. Well, thank you too…!
