In order to possess the powerful hunter’s bow Rhok’delar in WoW: Classic, you’ll have to face some challenging tasks. In our short and snappy guide, we’ll give you an overview of the missions – and how to best defend yourself against the demons you’ll have to fight.
Welcome to the new part of our WoW Classic class quest guide for level 60 characters! This time, the hunters among you should be especially happy, because this issue is about the complex quest series, at the end of which you can call the epic and iconic hunter longbow Rhok’delar and the accessories your own. We hope you enjoy completing each step of the quest and wish you good hunting!
At the beginning there is a sheet
It all starts in the Molten Core Raid. If you defeat the penultimate boss Majordomus Executus there, you have a fifty percent chance (theoretically) of receiving the quest item Ancient Petrified Leaf. However, if RNGesus is not friendly to you, only the items for the priests will be dropped for weeks. If you right-click on the item, you will receive the quest “The Ancient Leaf”. However, the quest text is a mystery; you are asked to find the owner of the leaf, there are no more detailed descriptions of its whereabouts. Therefore, we tell you: The owner of the leaf is located in Devil’s Forest. You can find him in the so-called Iron Forest, a small area located at the northern end of Devil’s Forest. Look for three huge wooden tree trunks near a small lake. When you step on the rock in the middle, the three trees will become active. Vartrus the Ancient is one of them and he is the owner of the petrified leaf. Give it to him to complete the quest. Then you will receive a task from each of the three trees. Only when you have completed all three tasks will you have the necessary components for your new Rhok’delar bow.
Pay a visit to Onyxia!
Stoma the Ancient has the knowledge needed to make a powerful string for your bow. However, he needs the right working material for it, and she should get it for him. The quest you’ll receive from him is called “The Matching Tendon”. Of course, the old tree is not demanding at all with his wishes. All he wants from you is the sinew of a full-grown black dragon. Unfortunately, there’s only one dragon that comes into question for this, and she’ll find it in Onyxia’s hoard. Since Onyxia won’t give you one of her tendons voluntarily, you’ll have to visit her first with your friends and finish her off. Since the item doesn’t have a hundred percent drop chance, she may have to visit the dragon lady several times until she succeeds. Afterwards, return to Stoma the Ancient with the Tire Black Dragonstring. Have him cast his tree magic on the Dragonstring, and then receive from him an enchanted Black Dragonstring for your efforts
To slay demons…
Your new bowstring alone will do you relatively little good. You will also need a suitable wooden staff on which to string it. Vartrus the Old is willing to provide you with such a staff if you will take care of a demon problem for him. Particularly powerful demons of the Burning Legion reside in various areas of Azeroth and cause chaos there. You can track them down with your Demon Tracking ability. Vartrus wants you to bring him their heads. This time you can’t take friends with you, but you’ll have to fight alone. More precisely, you’ll have to be the only person on the demon’s aggro list during the entire fight.
The demons are tough bosses, so you should prepare well for the fights. You can use buffs from other classes, but you have to fight alone. When you visit the demons, they wear a humanoid disguise. They won’t become active until a few seconds later when you talk to them. Use these seconds to position yourself well! It is worth taking enough suitable potions with you. Especially mana potions, willpower or agility boosters and elixirs of demon slaying pay off.
Simone the Seductress : This demon walks through Un’Goro Crater in the form of a braided troll lady. It is best to fight her west of the crater near the small ponds, as you can drag her around there without attracting the attention of too many other creatures. Simone fights alongside her demonic companion. The best way to do this is to catch her in a freeze trap while you take care of Chubby the Eater. If you fight her only after that, make sure she’s affected by viper bites as often as possible, and be prepared to fight her mainly in close combat.
Klinfran the Mad: You can find Klinfran in the Burning Steppes. He wears the face of a dark-skinned human and the name Franklin the Kind as a disguise. Look for him just south of the entrance to Blackrock Mountain. Klinfran’s main ability is Demonic Frenzy. This buff enhances his attacks and increases his speed. You would do well to negate this effect with Scorpid Sting. Scatter Shot can also serve you well here, as you can take advantage of the boss’s brief disorientation to put distance between you and him again.
Solenor the Slayer : Solenor doesn’t look particularly impressive at first glance, having chosen the guise of a pink-haired gnome and the name Nelson the Nice. You’ll find him in Silithus near the entrance to Ahn’Qiraj. Take a Great Shadow Protection Potion with you for this fight. The easiest way to defeat Solenor is to reset the fight right at the beginning. The demon starts with a rage effect on himself (= enrage ), which you can easily break if you catch him in your trap. The good thing is that he now starts the fight without this effect for the next 15 minutes. Once Solenor is caught in the freeze trap, use her suspended animation. If you challenge him again immediately after, start the fight with a well-placed booby trap instead to make it as easy as possible to kill the bugs before using Creeping Doom for the first time. Also, be prepared to be startled by his Terrifying Terror ability for five seconds – you definitely don’t want to automatically run into a pack of deadly bugs.
Artorius the Doomed: Look north of Winterspring for Artorius, who initially looks like a blue-robed Taurean. One thing is especially important in this fight: keep your distance. Once you get within 30 yards or less of the demon, it will cast Demonic Doom on you and deal high shadow damage. You should avoid this at all costs! He also uses Demonic Frenzy on himself, which will cause all your debuff spells on him to fizzle out and you will have to refresh them. The best way to fight him is with the Snake Bite ability. This shot deals damage over time, so Artorius will take damage even if you constantly run away and keep your distance.
If you managed to defeat all four demons, you can truly call yourself the king among hunters. Return the demons’ heads to Vartrus the Ancient and you will be rewarded with the item “Etched Staff of the Ancient Rune”. Now connect this staff to your magic string and voilà: Rhok’delar, the Longbow of the Ancient Guardians is ready.
Another Dragon String
What would the best bow be without a suitable quiver? Hastat the Old is willing to bind one of his blades into a special quiver if you bring him the proper binding material. He wants to use nothing less than the mature blue dragon string. But don’t worry, you don’t have to defeat another dragon of Onyxia’s caliber to do it. Of course, you could fight the blue dragon and world boss Azuregos in the south of Azshara, because he sometimes drops the coveted sinew. However, this dragon only appears every few days after it is killed, so it is not the best source of dragon sinew.
You can more easily obtain a mature blue dragon sinew from the wyrmkin found in Winterspring. These relatives of the blue dragons live south of Everlook. Here you can kill three different elite creatures: Cobalt Blue Wyrmkin, Cobalt Blue Caster and
