In World of Warcraft Classic, playing hunters is literally a beastly pleasure, because every single companion must first be leveled and trained after being tamed until it can unleash its full potential. In this special, we’ll show you which individual steps are necessary with the help of a commented series of pictures. Have fun with it!
What is a young level 17 Tauren hunter doing in the Alliance area of Westfall when she could feel much more comfortable and, above all, safer in the Barrens? The answer is: she is looking for a Coastal Crab, a crab that is the only animal in this level area that has the ability “Claw – Rank 3” and can be reached relatively safely as a Horde Hunter via the zeppelin station Grom’gol. Later, when she has picked up this ability from the Crab, she will train it on her standard companion, who as a Bear has already mastered Bite – Rank 3. Together, Claw and Bite give a comparatively high damage output for a tank pet.
Taming and training pets is a complex, interesting gameplay in World of WarcraftClassic, which made the hunter one of the most popular classes from the beginning. Up to level 10, a budding hunter is initially in “survival” mode without a pet and must be very careful when pulling mobs to avoid being immediately overwhelmed. Then, at level 10, the hunter’s life begins. In several steps you’ll learn how to tame and train wild animals, since not only your hero’s abilities have different ranks, but also those of your companions. Each pet in Classic has a certain number of skills; if you want it to learn more, you put it in the stable and go into the wild to find an animal with the skill (and skill rank) you want. You tame that animal and learn its skill(s) by observation,
In the following annotated series of images, you will see our young tauren hunter learning how to tame and train wild animals after reaching level 10. Step by step you will then see the application of this knowledge. Have fun with it!
