WoW Classic: How to open Ahn’Qiraj with the scepter of sandstorms

Before we can jump into the Ahn’Qiraj raids with Phase 5 of , we first have to open the Flaw Paradise. However, this can only be done if at least one player on each server (with the help of other Azeroth heroes) masters a long quest line with the Scepter of the Sandstorms and the Horde and Alliance fighters simultaneously gather countless supplies for the fight against the Silithids. We will explain in detail how to open Ahn’Qiraj.

With the upcoming content phase of WoW Classic, we have a unique opportunity to relive perhaps the most blatant in-game in WoW history: the opening of Ahn’Qiraj. Only if a player masters a very long and complex series of quests and Horde and Alliance fighters work together to find countless supplies to fight the Silithids, yes, only then will the Beetle Paradise open with the two raid challenges Temple of Ahn’Qiraj and Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj. Below we give you a preview of what’s behind the opening of Ahn’Qiraj.

Preparations for the war
Behind the preparations for war is a long and complex grind that Horde and Alliance players must master together on each server. Out of a total of 25 items, we should find a five to six digit number. Here is the complete list for Horde and Alliance:

Both factions must collect the following items:

90,000 x Copper Ingots
26,000 x Purple Lotus
80,000 x Thick Leather
17,000 x Spotted Yellowtail
400,000 x Runic Fabric Bandage
The Alliance must also collect the following supplies:

28,000 x Iron Bars
24,000 x Thorium Ingots
20,000 x Arthas’ Tears
33,000 x Strangletkelp
180,000 x Light Leather
110,000 x Medium Leather
20,000 x Toasted Raptor
14,000 x Rainbow Fin Tuna
800,000 x Linen bandage
600,000 x Silk Bandage
The Horde also collects the following supplies:

22,000 x tin ingots
18,000 x Mithril Bars
96,000 x Flower of Peace
19,000 x Fire Flower
60,000 x Heavy Leather
60,000 x Indestructible Leather
10.000 x Lean Wolf Steak
10.000 x Baked salmon
250,000 x Woolen Bandage
Magic Bandage x 250,000
When you drop off a pile of the listed supplies at the

in your faction’s capital, you will receive both a seal and a crate of items. The contents of the crate and the number of seals depend on the quality of the item you collect. While for 20 light leathers you will receive only one seal and find a low-level item and a few scrolls in the chest, for 20 resistant leathers you will receive ten seals and a high-level item. You can then exchange the seals for more supply chests or reputation with one of the factions.

How long does the grind take?
On most classic servers, it should only take a comparatively short time for all war preparations to be made, despite the extremely large number of items at first glance. The populations of most classic realms are still significantly larger than in vanilla WoW. In addition, we’ve known for a long time exactly what supplies need to be gathered. Many ambitious guilds have already used the time to fill the banks with various raw materials and goods.

It could only look problematic on servers with a very one-sided faction ratio or a very small population, we’re thinking of Lucifron, Heartstriker, Judgment or Flamelash here. If a faction on a server can’t reach its goal, the gates remain closed. But of course, this problem existed back in 2006, when the majority faction often supported the other side by trading through the neutral auction house. And if that didn’t help, Blizzard eventually made sure players had access to AQ raids themselves.

The Scepter of the Sandstorms

However, getting the supplies is only one of the two requirements for opening Ahn’Qiraj. At the same time, with great dedication and the help of friends and the guild, at least one player must play through a long series of quests, at the end of which the Scepter of the Sandstorms beckons. Only with this item is it possible to beat the magic gong, start the opening event and open the gates of Ahn’Qiraj. And to make sure there are enough crazy people to embark on an adventure for the entire server, the developers are enticing you with perhaps the most exclusive reward in WoW (buy now) history: the Black Qiraji Resonance Crystal, which you can use to summon the Black Qiraji Armored Drone.

This is the only rideable Qiraji drone that can be used as a mount outside of the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj. Also, you can be sure that hardly anyone will own this animal. Only those who complete the entire series of quests related to the AQ opening within ten hours of the first gong strike will be able to call the Qiraji Resonance Crystal their own.

What to expect tomorrow
The title of this section already reveals the name of the first quest, which begins rather unspectacularly at the Cenarion Circle: You are to visit Anachronos in the Caves of Time and then return to Baristolth in Silithus. Then he sends you to the Blackwing Cave, where you are to get the head of the Hatchling Thresholdbringer. CAUTION: Even if several players in your raid have this quest, only one can pull out the head of the defeated boss.

After that, it’s time to get to work. A repeatable quest requires you to deliver silithid armor fragments you looted from the elite bugs until you reach neutral reputation with the new Brood Nozdormu faction. The bad news is that you start at “Hateful” and will need about 42,000 fragments (humans a little less) to reach the goal. At least, by completing the quests, you can turn other players into agents for your cause, who can then collect fragments for you as well. Once you’ve mastered this mammoth task, it’s back to the Caverns of Time and then to the gates of Ahn’Qiraj, where a small cutscene awaits you.

Red, green or blue?

Congratulations, you’ve mastered the intro! The main part of the quest line revolves around finding a red, green and blue scepter shard. The easiest way to do this is to hunt for the red scepter shard: kill Nefarian within five hours of talking to Vaelastrasz in Blackwing Lair. The green part, which consists of five quests and presents all Horde players with an additional challenge, is a bit more complicated. You’ll have to travel to the Alliance city of Darnassus and talk to a Wisp of the Forest there.

He will then send you to Lunar Land, where Keeper Remulos will task you with retrieving four Corruption Fragments from the elite green dragonkin near the Emerald Dragon Portals in Ashenvale, Feralas, Hinterlands, and Bleak Forest. You can then use these fragments to start an event in Moon Gulch, for which you should definitely assemble a full raid. Defend the moon landing and make sure that Eranikus and Remulos do NOT die. The reward is the green shard shard.

The last splinter
For the third and last shard you will have to work really hard once again. A total of 15 quests await you. Your journey will first take you to Azuregos in Azshara and then to Narain Soothfancy at the Steamroller Port in Tanaris. After that, three quest sections await you, which you can work through in any order. Among other things, you’ll need to obtain Narain’s Divination Glasses from the Trash enemies in Molten Core, find Lakmaeran’s corpse in Feralas on Isle of Terror, find 20 Chimaeroclets (the quest is rewarded with Recipe: Dirge’s Crazy Chimaerok Chops!), and find eight chapters of the book Drachic for Dummies (in Blackwing Lair and Ragnaros, among other places).

Once you have mastered all the quests, take the unused items from the shopping list (see below) and give them to Narain Soothfancy. This will give you an Arcanite Buoy, which you can use to summon the White Giant on the coast of Azshara. If you defeat him with the help of your friends, you can finally pick up the Blue Scepter Shard from Anachronos. In the following quests, it’s just a matter of getting the scepter, beating the gong and bagging all the rewards. Congratulations, you have mastered one of the most complex quest series in WoW Classic!

What is WoW Classic?
