WoW Classic Guide – The 45 Minute Baron Run

can be played on the appropriate servers and one of the most famous runs in WoW history is back: the 45-minute Baron Run in Stratholme. We dug up our retro guide from the archives for you.

With WoW (buy now) Classic on the corresponding server, a feature of the Stratholme instance will also be revived, which some veterans will remember with joy or with horror. It is the Baron Run, which must be completed within 45 minutes so that you can dust off a piece of extra loot – because only 45 minutes after triggering a checkpoint in the instance does Rivendare kill his prisoner Ysida, who is responsible for Tier 0, 5 quest A Dead Man’s Last Plea is required.

At the moment it is not available in WoW Classic – it will only come in phase 5. Accordingly, this guide is still uninteresting for most of you and since the quest is not yet available, the timer is not yet available in the game. However, the following guide is written with the quest in mind, consider that. The Baron Run is already popular, after all, the boss of the Undead part of Stratholme will drop a free mount with luck and the 45-minute Baron Run are you relatively fast? We dug into our archives and unearthed our retro guide to the 45 Minute Baron Run for you.

Stratholme: The Baron Run in 45 minutes
One of the hardest tasks in the game is the T-0.5 quest “A Dead Man’s Last Request”. The extremely urgent mission: defeat Baron Rivendare within 45 minutes. This guide tells you how to master the challenge with the right preparation and tactics.

The Optimal
Party The optimal party consists of a defensive warrior, a holy-skilled priest, a mage/sorcerer, and two rogue/hunter/warriors. If you’re playing a support class such as Shaman, Paladin, or Druid, they can claim a slot from the damage dealers. It is important that you do not make any compromises when putting together a group. If the group is missing a priest, there is no point in taking a paladin or shaman as the main healer. All party members must be level 60 and wear at least blue gear. Epic weapons and armor are beneficial but not essential.

preparation

Invest enough time in preparation. A missing healing or mana potion can make the difference between success and failure. Each player should have at least five major healing potions, ten heavy runecloth bandages, and the mana classes an additional five major mana potions. Immensely useful for melee fighters and hunters are Mongoose Potion, Major Troll Blood Potion, Elixir of Brute Force, Elixir of Superior Defense, Mighty Rage Potion, Power of the Juju, and Might of the Juju. Casters and Healers require Mana Oil and Mages/Sorcerers also require Greater Elixir. The potions can be bought from the auction house or have an alchemist make them for you. Each mana class should have at least 40 Conjured Crystal Water (level 55) with them. Sparkling water (level 45) is not recommended, otherwise the regeneration breaks would take too long. For the final battle against the Baron, shadow protection potions are beneficial for the melee fighters. It is highly recommended to use a communication program such as Teamspeak or Ventrilo in order to be able to react as a to unforeseen situations at lightning speed.

Gear All healers don their best gear with maximum mana pool and high mana regeneration . Equipment that only improves healing spells is not important in this quest. For the other classes, we recommend the Undead Set, which increases damage against undead. If you have the Seal or the Rune of Dawn, equip them as well.

What to do with the loot?
Even if it’s difficult, just leave the prey from the monsters. An enchanter collects the items from the bosses and then distributes the fragments among the players. The Stratholme crates lying around everywhere are also left unopened. This saves a minute or two that would otherwise be lost at the end. Remember, your only goal is to hunt down the Baron in 45 minutes.

Enter Instance
The quest “Dead Man’s Last Request” starts outside the Stratholme main entrance at Anthion Harmon. He asks you to free his beloved wife Ysida Harmon from the clutches of Baron Rivendare. You then enter the instance via the side entrance. To do this, one player from the group needs the “Key to the City”. A villain with 300 points in LOCKPICK can also open the gate. There is no point in letting an external player unlock the gate in front of the instance, as you will find three other locked gates inside the instance.

You can calmly clear the first forecourt of monsters and use the last opportunity to take a little break, because that’s not possible in the next 45 minutes. Before opening the second gate, cast any available one-hour buffs on the party, use any performance-enhancing potions, and upgrade your weapons with mana oil, whetstones, or poisons. If you have a Warlock in the party, each player picks up a Health Stone and the Priest’s Soul is saved into a Soul Stone.

The 45 Minute Countdown Begins

Once the second gate is opened, the 45 minute countdown will start and each player will automatically receive a buff notifying them of the remaining time. The previously determined puller (preferably a hunter) starts work immediately and brings the first opponent, a banshee or a spider, to the group waiting at the gate.

While the individual enemies are all elite, they pose no problem for a fully buffed group. All ranged fighters pay attention to the Eye of Naxxramas, which appears here for the first time. If multiple undead come during the pull, the priest uses UNDEAD SACKS to chain an opponent in place. The puller must break out of a fight in time and bring a new monster to the party, ideally allowing a new opponent to come within range of the party once the previous one is defeated. Fighting continues in this manner until the healer’s mana falls below 30 percent. The mana classes take every opportunity to refill their mana, even if it’s only a few seconds between two pulls. If you have a druid in the group, he can periodically cast INCENSE on the priest, minimizing mana breaks. In the resting phases, everyone regenerates their vitality independently, either with food or with bandages. Paladins, shamans and druids relieve the priest and use their mana mainly for healing.

Free the three ziggurats
Fight your way towards Baroness Anastari and leave the ghoul packs on the right. Stay close to the left wall to avoid attracting unnecessary enemies. Hunters in particular have to be careful where they stand and, if necessary, engage in close combat. As soon as you have cleared a lane, the Baroness pulls far to the rear of your group. Right at the start of combat, Warriors and Priests consume their fear spells to avoid using them against their own group if they are taken over. Combat varies greatly in difficulty depending on which class is adopted. Once the boss is defeated, a warrior runs into the ziggurat along with a caster, uses CHALLENGE CALL on the Thuzadin Acolytes, and the caster quickly kills them with area damage. Be careful walking in and out

Right after the fight you skip the usual loot distribution ritual and instead pull the next creatures that block the way to Nerub’enkan. Now stick to the right wall so you don’t get too close to the three ghouls on the left. Even if it takes time, you have to remove all enemies to the left of the ziggurat, but you can leave the ones on the right. Defeat Nerub’enkan to the left of the stairs and then clean the ziggurat. You take a short break in front of the portcullis and then go through it together. At this point, you should have about 28 minutes left. If the clock shows less than 22 minutes, you can abort the mission, analyze the errors and try again.

bottlenecks
After you have passed the grate, you face one of the most difficult places in Stratholme. On the one hand, the second eye of Naxxramas likes to appear here and must be switched off as quickly as possible. On the other hand, the opponents are close together and there are several patrols. First, the puller gets the three Thuzadin wizards on the right. In order for them to come to your group, the puller must run backwards out of line of sight. Be prepared to quickly finish off the fleeing enemies before they run into the yard and bring more groups of monsters to you. Right after that get the ghoul trio on the left and then the patrol. Once the area to the left of the fountain is clear, the group will advance and pull all the ghouls on the opposite wall. The left side of the ziggurate must be fought free, because that’s where the fight against Maleki takes place. You can leave the right side completely. The boss fight is not challenging and you immediately rush into the ziggurat to the Thuzadin Acolytes.

The
Final Sprint Now run in the direction of Magistrat Barthilas and keep to the right wall. Quickly get rid of the two ghouls on the right in front of the big gate and then go through it. The group of four ghouls on the left is untouched, as is the puzzled magistrate. At this point you have about 17 minutes left. If it’s less than 13 minutes, it’s going to be very close. Fill up with full mana again before the first giant meatballs come your way. If they don’t march fast enough on their own, you can pull them manually. The faster you clear the forecourt, the sooner Ramstein can be seen.
