WoW Classic: Guide – Blackrock Lower Spire aka LBRS

ne of the most famous dungeons in WoW was Lower Blackrock Spire aka Lower Blackrock Spire aka LBRS for Lower Blackrockspire. With the Classic servers, it’s going to be really old school again in the instance – and we have our retro to LBRS for you!

It’s time for another retro instance guide on buffed to properly prepare you for your upcoming heroic adventures. This time we travel to the Blackrock, namely to the middle level, namely the Unteren Blackrockspitze – LBRS (for Lower Blackrockspire in English). You want to complete them to relieve the bosses of nice loot and to complete quests, which in turn will reward you with rich loot.

WoW Guide: The Lower Blackrock Spire aka LBRS
The group composition

A warrior (a paladin can also be used in an emergency), a priest (a good druid can also be used), a magician or warlock and two other supports such as hunters and rogues form a good group of five. Although you can get in at level 55, you’d better have reached level 57-60.

The way to the instance
Via the flight point at the thorium point you go into the searing chasm. From there, head south toward Blackrock. Via the hanging chain, which also leads into the Blackrock depths, you go to the Blackrockspitze. However, you do not walk down, but up. If you now jump onto the balcony, you can already see the entrance.

The way to Highlord Omokk
Behind the entrance a staircase leads up to the first room. There are two orc groups waiting there, each with two orcs and one orc who is always running back and forth between the two groups. There is also a patrol of two orcs roaming the room. First you pull the group onto the stairs without the third orc and kill the two. You then do that with the other group and finally bring the third orc onto the stairs. Then go into the room and wait for the patrol. Then they have to be killed as well.

On the left is the Upper Blackrock Peak. However, this door is still locked. First you need the ring, which can be found in Lower Blackrock Spire. Because of this, it goes to the right. There is a ledge that you jump down. Here you meet the first larger enemy formation. An orc with two wolves and two other orcs. Most likely, one of the orcs is a warlock who must be killed first, otherwise he will summon more and more demons. If there is a magician in the group, you can of course turn him into a sheep.

Continue through the passage on the left. Again, four orcs are waiting to be killed. Once this is done, continue along the left wall. A lone orc can be seen over the rubble to the left and up. As soon as you approach him, he transforms into his human form. From him you get the key quest for Upper Blackrock Spire. Once you have accepted this, follow the path towards the campfire. Another orc squad is waiting there. The orcs skilled in magic should be lured with counterspells or something similar, otherwise they could flee as soon as their hit points are reduced. If everyone in the group is not yet level 60, you must also fight the group to the right of the wooden bridge, otherwise you can sneak past it.

If you are now in front of the bridge, it is advisable to pull the first group over. Fighting on the bridge is not particularly recommended, as you may be kicked off. The entire platform at the end of the bridge should now be cleared. You should have encountered the Trogg Warosh by now. This one has a quest. There are lances in a holder on the left wall. For the quest Urok Doomhowl you need one of these lances. The sleeping orcs in front of it should be killed though. Now you are in front of the ogre area.

Highlord Omokk
Two groups of ogres are waiting in the corridor. It is best to pull this in front of the corridor, because the ogres also have the unpleasant trait of kicking from time to time. In the room beyond the hallway is a hill with ogres on it and next to it. You can ignore the ogres on the hill. However, you should kill the ogres on the way. Then you face Highlord Omokk and his two guards.

The guards should be incapacitated by stunning them, turning them into sheep etc. Then the first thing to do is kill Omokk. This has the property of throwing the tank away from itself and thus removing it from its aggro list. Therefore, the warrior should have his Mocking Strike ready. Once Omokk is dead, both of his guards will be eliminated. Omokk’s head should now also be looted by anyone attempting to complete the Doomhowl quest.

From the ogres to the trolls
Now go back to the entrance of the ogre area. Along the left wall there is a ramp that leads down. The first trolls are already waiting in front of the entrance to the hall at the end of this ramp. When fighting, you should make sure that none of these trolls escape, otherwise they will get reinforcements. Furthermore, some of the trolls can cast a frog transformation spell. Gradually you should pull the enemy groups out of the hall and kill them. If you think you have created enough space, you can enter the room. There is an archway in the opposite wall. This leads to the optional boss Vosh’gajin. It is advisable to pull all trolls (except for the two guards) out of the room, as they tend to run to their boss and alert him.

Shadowhunter Vosh’gajin
The two guards of Vosh’gajin should be deactivated again. The main problem with Vosh’gajin is his area of effect, which turns all players within a certain radius into frogs. Therefore, you should spread out generously in the room.

After the boss and his two guards are dead, go back to the main hall. Now start decimating the trolls in the stairwell. In front of you is Agent Bijou, who will give you a quest. Continue to the lower hall along the stairs. However, before you kill the enemies below, you should wait for the patrol. Once this is done, continue towards the archway. Two groups of enemies need to be eliminated, then you will face Voone.

Voone
There’s not much to say about Voone himself, except that he can hit pretty hard.

The Orca

Once Voone is taken care of, head back to the entrance of the Troll Hall. From the ledge there you can see the orca alley. Now everyone should jump on the pillar that’s below first, and if there’s no patrol around, jump off the pillar. The orcs behind the boulders can be ignored. You should now try to pull one camp at a time. Again, make sure that no orc can escape.

If you pull two camps despite all caution, this will certainly lead to a wipe, so extreme caution is advised with every move. However, in case of a wipe, there is a shortcut that will lead you to the orc alley when you enter the instance. If you always stay to the right of the wall after entering the great hall at the beginning (where you get the key quest), you can jump onto a ledge there. If you keep going, you’ll come to the Orc Alley.

Urok Scarebringer
Once you have successfully fought your way through the spiders, you will come to a platform populated by ogres. This should be cleared first. If you want to summon Urok Dreadbringer, you should now put the lance with Omokk’s head into the skull collection.

Once the lance is in the skull pile, groups of up to three ogres will appear at relatively short intervals. One of the group (not the healer and not the tank) should stand next to the lance during the fight and use it every 30 seconds. This will deal significant damage to one of the ogres. It is especially important that the group always attack a target together, the lower the damage to the group. The strongest ogres should be fought first. These are the double-headed ones. If you hold out long enough, Urok Dreadbringer will appear. Most likely, this will happen at a time when you are still busy with other enemies. If you have a mage with you, you can turn Urok into a sheep.

Halycon and Gizrul

Once you have killed Urok, continue towards the big door. The tank should go ahead, though, because there will be a lot of insects running out of a crevice along the way. Once the insects are taken care of, wait for the first patrol and kill them as well. Then head up the stairs and the Orctrio should be taken out. Up the stairs on the right side, the quartermaster is waiting in the adjacent room. You should pull him out as soon as he appears. This is only optional, but he will drop a crate of valuable items. Now go back down the corridor to the end. There you will stand in front of Halycon’s nest. Halycon and her puppies are relatively easy to defeat. However, once Halycon is dead, the real boss comes running down the hallway, Gizrul.
