WoW Classic: Farm reputation with the Hydraxians – how it works

If you want to master the Molten Core in , you can’t avoid the Hydraxian faction. Even though the elementals don’t offer any special rewards, the reputation grind is still necessary to defeat all enemies in the raid instance. In our guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about the Hydraxians.

The WoW community (buy now) has always argued about whether everything was better in the past – that is, in the days of vanilla WoW – than in WoW Battle for Azeroth. Since personal taste and nostalgic transfiguration always play a role, the release of WoW Classic can probably never answer this question conclusively.

The Hydraxians and the Eternal Quintessence
Still, there are some examples of things that weren’t better in WoW Classic. The long walks, for example. Or the faction of the Hydraxians, water elementals dedicated to fighting the rest of the elementals and Ragnaros in particular.

The Hydraxian faction doesn’t offer any special rewards for earning a good reputation with them – which is quite unusual for today’s WoW players. Instead, the Hydraxians are emblematic of “back in the day” gating.

You must have at least a benevolent reputation with the elemental faction if you want to defeat all the bosses in the Molten Core raid. Well, to be exact: At least seven members of your raid party must have reached this reputation level. Only then will they receive the Aqueous Quintessence from the faction, which can be used to clear a total of seven runes in Molten Core.

One rune is found on each of the bosses Magmadar, Gehennas, Garr, Shazzrah, Golemagg, and Sulfuron Herald. Only when all the runes are gone can players face the last two bosses, Majordomus Executus and Ragnaros. The twist is that the required item Aqueous Quintessence is a consumable item, of which you can only have one in your inventory at a time.

Therefore, multiple raid members will have to get a new Quintessence for each ID. As a small relief, Blizzard has at least introduced the Eternal Quintessence, which you can get from the Hydraxians if you have a respectful reputation and it stays permanently. However, the limit of one per player remains.

Nevertheless: If you want to raid seriously in WoW Classic, you can hardly avoid the reputation grind with the Hydraxians. That’s why we’re going to explain how you can increase your reputation with the elementals.

Reputation with the Hydraxians – killing enemies
Ah yes, back in vanilla WoW you could kill enemies endlessly to gain reputation. This also works with the Hydraxians, but individual enemy types only give you additional reputation points up to a certain level. Up to the “Earned” level, you get reputation from the following enemies:

Dust Striker : Silithus, five reputation points.
Desert Rumbler : Silithus, five reputation points
Great Obsidian Elemental: Burning Steppe, five reputation points
Until you obtain the Reverence, you can kill these enemies:

Hurricane : Rare mob in Silithus, 25 reputation points.
Lord Incendius : Boss in Blackrock Depths, 15 reputation points
Emberseer Firehouse : Boss in Upper Blackrock Spire, 50 reputation points
Firelord, Lava Wave and Ancient Core Dog : trash in Molten Core, 20 reputation points
Firerunner, Flameguard, Molten Destroyer, Lava Elemental, Lava Ripper: trash in Molten Core, 40 reputation points
If you want to achieve Exalted reputation, you can send the following enemies to the grave from Revered:

Lucifron , Magmadar , Gehennas , Garr , Baron Geddon , Shazzrah , Sulufron Herald : Bosses in Molten Core, 100 reputation.
Golemagg the Incinerator : Boss in Molten Core, 150 reputation points
Ragnaros : Boss in Molten Core, 200 reputation points

Gather reputation from the Hydraxians – fulfill quests.
Besides just grinding reputation, you can also fulfill a number of quests by killing enemies, which also rewards you with reputation points. To do this, go to Prince Hydraxis, whom you will find on an island in the Great Sea off Azshara. Prince Hydraxis will then give you the following tasks, for which you can invest a lot of legwork:

Stormers and Rumplers : For this quest, you need to kill Dust Stormers and Desert Rumplers in the northwest of Silithus.
Poisoned Water : Collect Discord Bracelets from Poisoned Elementals in the Eastern Plaguelands (south of Corin’s Crossroads, at the western end of the Scar to the east, and south of Zul Mashar).
Eye of Emberseer : Free the boss in the Upper Blackrock Spire dungeon, Firehouse Emberseer around the Eye of Emberseer .
Molten Core : Kill a Molten Giant, an Ancient Core Dog, a Lava Wave and a Firelord in the Molten Core raid.
Agent of Hydraxis : Achieve honorable reputation by killing Hydraxian enemies (see list of grindable enemies above).
Hands of the Enemy: Take a hand from each of the four bosses Shazzrah , Lucifron , Gehennas and Sulfuron in Molten Core.
Once you complete the Hands of the Enemy quest, Lord Hydraxis will give you the coveted Aqueous Quintessence. Once you’ve used up the item, you can obtain a new essence from the elemental.

Last but not least, Lord Hydraxis offers you one last adventure as a grand finale: The Reward of a Hero. To complete this quest, all you have to do is grab one of the two rewards from the chest: the Ring of the Sea Breeze or the Ring of the Tidal Loop. After that, you can still slaughter yourself by killing enemies in Molten Core with the Exalted reputation, but you won’t get a separate reward for it.

As you can see, the reputation grind in the Hydraxians is pretty tedious – but it was part of the game back in vanilla WoW and now in WoW Classic, at least for those players who didn’t want to miss out on Molten Core and the Ragnaros tier sets.
