WoW Classic: Collector’s Edition and the first pets – Which of you owns them?

When appears at the end of August, it will run completely separately from “Retail-WoW”, with one exception: Owners of the first Collector’s Edition will also have the three pets activated in the new edition of the classic. We want to know from you who is one of the lucky owners. Also, as an extra, we have a bunch of nice artwork from the Making Of DVD!

When World of Warcraft Classic went on sale in November 2004 (USA) and February 2005 (Europe), Blizzard had a limited number of copies of the Collector’s Edition made, which, despite the immense demand, were not reproduced. It’s completely sold out at retail stores that once offered it for $79.99. Some specimens can still be found on eBay or similar online markets from time to time, where they fetch record prices today. New, originally packaged copies usually cost over 1,000 euros. What’s in the baby?

While in later, non-limited Collector’s Editions of the WoW expansions, the specials were featurettes with a lot of self-promotion (and finally disappeared completely with Battle for Azeroth), the “Behind the Scenes” of the WoW Classic Collector’s Edition is really very informative and worth seeing. Attached below you will find a selection of the countless artworks from the special. The three battle pets Zergling, Panda Cub and Mini Diablo have a high rarity value – due to the limited edition. When WoW Classic goes live on August 27, 2019, owners of the first Collector’s Edition will once again receive the quest to activate it in-game. We would therefore like to know from you whether you are one of the (few) lucky ones? Write us in the comments!

What is WoW Classic?

World of Warcraft Classic is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.

Getting Started

All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.

  1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
  2. Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
  3. Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
  4. Click the Play button when the installation is complete.

You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
