WoW Classic brings together old companions – just great

has encouraged many former Azeroth heroes to revisit their former virtual home, where they had experienced so many memorable moments, after a long absence. And since the world is a village, there’s a good chance that old companions who lost track of each other in recent years will meet up here and there. For that reason alone, is a fine thing.

A few days ago, my rogue followed the Gold Road south to leave the dusty wasteland and take on the challenges in Thousand Needles. Arikara, Arnak, Grenka – beware! After some time, however, the bones of my forsaken ached. Almost endlessly the way dragged, I needed a break. Suddenly a voice sounded from nowhere: “Creep? Are you the Creep from Godmode?” I turned around and looked into the face of a troll mage I hadn’t seen in many years. Memories came flooding back of a long-gone time filled with exploits in Molten Core, Pitchwing Hoard, and the bug-infested lands of Ahn’Qiraj. A Thousand Needles would now have to wait, of course. I wanted to hear how my old companion had fared. Over a tasty strong brew, if it could be arranged.

This little story actually happened to me (almost) exactly the same way recently (there was no Starkbräu) and the mage isn’t the only old companion from my Classic, TBC or WotLK days that I’ve stumbled across by accident since the launch of WoW Classic. Yes, the vanilla re-release obviously encourages many former Azeroth heroes to revisit their former virtual home, where they had experienced so many memorable moments, after a long abstinence. In my Battle.net friends list alone, I currently see more names online, especially in the evening, logged into World of Warcraft (buy now ) than I have seen in many years.

And it’s not just me. A few hours ago, a Reddit user reported that he met a player by chance in a group that he hadn’t seen in eight years. Also in this case, the players had given their Classic characters names they had used before. Just great:

How does it look: Have you already experienced similar encounters in WoW Classic? Do you also think it’s great that the vanilla re-release was able to bring many former players back to Azeroth? Tell us what you think in the comments.

What is WoW Classic?

is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.
