Since BlizzCon 2021, we know with one hundred percent certainty that the responsible Blizzard developers will expand the current WoW Classic servers with the content of The Burning Crusade in the foreseeable future. As soon as the launch is imminent, especially those players in Outland who are already preparing themselves optimally for the upcoming TBC adventure will go into full swing. We’ll tell you what’s involved in such a preparation.
Since BlizzCon 2021, it’s been clear: The Blizzard developers will expand all current WoW Classic servers with the content of the first WoW add-on before the end of the year. As soon as the launch day is approaching and the Dark Portal is open, especially those players in Outland who are already preparing themselves optimally for the upcoming TBC adventure will take off. In this guide, we’ll tell you what is involved in such an optimal preparation for TBC.
WoW: Decide which class you want to play
You should already think about which class and specialization you want to play in your guild raid in the future. As you know, TBC Classic changes quite a bit compared to the vanilla version, which needs to be considered when making a decision: the raid sizes, the debuff cap as well as the class balancing and design. Currently dominant damage specialists like Furor Warriors and Rogues are suddenly no longer part of the crème de la crème.
They are overtaken by archetypes that have so far only very rarely or never appeared at the top of the logs. At the same time, the various hybrid playstyles are gaining strength because they provide even better buffs and debuffs that hardly any raid would want to do without. On top of that, their damage potential is also higher.
- This guide will help you decide: WoW: TBC Classic – the most important buffs and debuffs / optimal raid setup.
WoW: These Classic items are also relevant in TBC
In Classic, you can currently get a whole range of items that are also useful in The Burning Crusade.
Useful consumable items
- Potion of Free Action: Even in TBC raids, there are quite a few encounters where you can use this potion to counter stun or movement-restricting effects. And of course, the FaP is still used in PvP (not allowed in the arenas!).
- Hurtfulness Potion: If you need to get from A to B quickly, such as a flag bearer on the Battlegrounds, this potion remains a solid option.
- Invisibility Potion: You can also use this potion to avoid certain trash groups in TBC raids and dungeons. Or you can use the potion for PvP.
- Mighty Rage Potion: Should be in every warrior’s pack.
- Thistle Tea: Should be carried by every rogue.
- Vial of Supreme Power: Will be significantly cheaper than the new Flask in TBC, and will only provide ten less spell power.
- Vial of Distilled Wisdom: Still a strong option for all playstyles that want to accumulate as much intelligence as possible (Holy Paladins, for example).
- Vial of Petrification: A protective effect for emergencies that will also play a role in TBC. NOTE: Vials have been noticeably weakened in patch 2.1.
- Limited Invulnerability Potion: Protecting yourself from physical attacks for some time is also a fine thing in TBC. NOTE: LiPs have been noticeably weakened in patch 2.1.
- Dark Rune and Demonic Rune: Are also very popular with spellcasters in TBC.
- Elixir of Demon Slaying: Outland is full of demons.
- Regeneration Potion: Poisons, curses, diseases, and magical debuffs plague you in Outland as well.
Gimmicks of the engineers
In TBC, the engineer art for the PvE area no longer plays quite as big a role as it did in WoW (buy now ) Classic. However, those who remain loyal to the engineer art can not only enjoy strong helmets (more on that later), but also many gadgets continue to be used. Here is a selection:
- Arcane Bomb: Class option to silence a group of enemies in one fell swoop. Useful in raids, dungeons and PvP.
- Field Repair Bot-74A: A must-have item in Progress for all raid groups, allowing you to repair yourself after countless wipes. Very likely cheaper to produce than the TBC counterpart.
- Goblin Jumper Cable XL: Bring the dead back to the living without a healer nearby? That’s also celebrated in TBC if successful.
- Parachute Cloak: If you’re constantly hanging around Arathi Corner even in TBC and can’t find a corresponding ability in your spellbook, you should pack this cloak.
- Grenades: Can still be usefully sprinkled into battles, for example the iron grenade to knock an opponent out of sync in PvP.
Enchantment Materials
More generally, enchantment materials will cross the auction house table for good gold throughout the TBC era. The profession is very useful in the first WoW expansion, and particularly ambitious players will be learning up Enchanting every now and then to enchant their new rings, only to swap the profession back out for another.
In addition, enchanters with their Classic Weapon Oils are very popular with spellcasters and healers in TBC as well. And what do you need for Excellent Spell Oil and Excellent Mana Oil? Of course: big shiny shards. So stock up now!
Also oldie but goldie: the Crusader weapon enchantment, which will be popular with many melee players as a cheap option, especially in the early days of TBC. In addition to the shards, Righteous Bullets are also an issue here, of course.
Zul’Gurub Enchantments
In TBC, the best enchantments for the head, pants, and shoulders slots are tied to reputation factions or professions. So if you want to upgrade your new gear from Outland early, you should pay another visit to Zul’Gurub soon and get the items you need for the Zandalari shoulder, head, and pants enchantments.
WoW: Get your desired professions to 300 and twinks to level 50
In TBC, your character’s professions will be similarly important as in Classic. As a tailoring expert, for example, you can create several really strong cloth sets that, for various mana playstyles, will outshine anything that can drop in dungeons and raids for a long time. The situation is similar with the helmets of the engineers or with some weapons and armor of the blacksmiths. Without the respective profession, you have to leave a lot of gold in the auction house for these items, many of the items even require the respective profession.
For players who are ambitious about TBC’s raid challenges, the Leatherworking profession is also a strong choice. The reason: Drums of Battle, which increase the melee, ranged, and spellpower of all nearby party members. Used properly, this item alone will give your raid a huge DpS boost. NOTE: Blizzard has indicated that the designers want to adjust the drums so that not every player feels compelled to level up Leatherworking. What this change will look like, we do not know at this time.
- WoW: TBC Classic – the best professions for all classes in PvP and PvE
- WoW: TBC Classic – these are the exclusive advantages of all professions
But if you want to get the maximum out of TBC, don’t just choose the optimal professions for your main character. After all, as a leather processor or blacksmith, you’ll need resources, so you’ll need a mountain farmer and a furrier. If you want to see raids from the inside frequently, it’s also best to provide yourself with an alchemy or jeweler twist, herbalism or mining included. And if you want to wear the aforementioned tailor sets or turn them into gold as quickly as possible, you should get several tailoring twinks to be able to produce as much spell fabric/shadow fabric as possible in a short time.
Apropos: To be able to use profession twinks efficiently in TBC, they must have reached at least level 50. Then you can travel with them to Shattrath, the capital of Outland, to buy the recipes that are important for you. It’s best to level up your side characters to 50 now, so you don’t have to waste time with them later. If you also want to learn the specializations of alchemy, for example, you will need level 60 for the corresponding quests.
WoW: Worthwhile investments for TBC
With the launch of TBC Classic, many new players will make the Classic servers unsafe. In addition, many players will create a Draenei or Blood Elf, respectively an Alliance Shaman or Horde Paladin, and of course also level up professions with the new Azeroth heroes. And then there is the new profession of Jeweler, which every player has to level up from skill level 1. You can currently find a German guide for leveling up Jeweler’s Art from 1 to 375 here, for example.
To make a long story short: Many Classic resources remain lucrative in TBC. Especially with ores and gems you can earn a lot of gold. Note that some ores like iron ore and mithril ore will be more valuable than thorium ore, for example. But you can also earn gold with the materials you need to make all the consumables we listed above. Note that some Classic resources are also needed for TBC recipes. For example, Master Blacksmiths get the recipe for a weapon that allows them to easily increase their first skill points from 300. To make it, they need Thorium Ingots, Enchanted Thorium Ingots, and Indestructible Leather.
The currently in Classic very cheap vials Mojo as well as Heart of the Wild are in TBC again interesting for all jewelers. The situation is similar for many types of stone, such as Heavy Stone. And all alchemists who want to create healing potions or elixirs of healing power in TBC need a lot of Golden Sansam. Meanwhile, if you want to level enchantment efficiently from 300, you’ll need to put a lot of illusion dust on the bench. The recipe Bracers – Superior Stamina promises skill points up to about 330.
WoW: Farm Gold for Flying, Professions and Co.
If you only have a few hundred gold pieces to your name at the moment, you should definitely do a few more rounds of farming before the launch of TBC. Of course, questing and leveling in Outland yields a lot of gold. In addition, you can earn a lot of gold with the very useful professions in TBC. But to get your crafts to the maximum in a timely manner and to create the most valuable items, you already need quite a bit of gold. Even more wealth is needed if you can’t provide yourself with the most important professions, but have to rely on other players’ goods.
Also note that with the TBC launch, a new riding license will be added to the game. The slow version costs 900 gold including the flight mount. However, if you don’t feel like sneaking through the new zones, you’ll have to spend 5,000 gold for the fast flight license and another 200 gold pieces for an appropriate mount.
Other potential cost traps
If you want to ride through Outland in a particularly stately manner, you can get the Cenarian War Hippogryph from the Expedition of Cenarius for 1,600 gold, for example. The Amani war bear was also popular at that time. This had to be earned in the Zul’Aman Time Race, but not every group managed this crunchy challenge. Professional guilds, however, took interested parties for a measly 10,000 gold.
You’ll have to budget even more if you want the epic gloves, the recipes for which are only available in Sunwell Plateau. Raid guilds used to sell them for up to 20,000 gold, and the necessary sun particles often cost 2,000 gold each (all of these gold prices are likely to be even higher in TBC Classic, as there will be more gold in circulation than back then). And if you want to fully expand your guild bank, you need to have about 40,000 gold on the high side.
WoW: Lots of experience right at launch
If you want to reach level 70 as quickly as possible after the launch of TBC Classic, you can already fill up the quest log with completed quests and hand them in at once after the release of TBC. However, this is only worthwhile if the quests are located in one area, so that you don’t have to spend ages traversing the world to hand in everything.
WoW: Play battlegrounds for battleground tokens
When you compete against other players in Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, or Alterac Valley from Classic, you will receive tokens for the respective battleground at the end of a match. These tokens will continue to exist in TBC, with the addition of the new Eye of the Storm battleground token. So what can you do with these tokens in TBC?
Well, for one thing, you can exchange the tokens for special PvP mounts. On the other hand, you need the tokens to pay for the standard PvP equipment with these and your earned honor. If you already have the tokens in your pocket, you only need to farm for honor. Last but not least, TBC also gives you the option to convert tokens into honor at an NPC. Since you always exchange one token from each of the four battlegrounds for this process, you can already do some preliminary work. In TBC itself, you only need to farm the tokens from the Eye of the Storm.
WoW: Train in the arenas of Shadowlands
As we all know, WoW’s arenas were introduced with The Burning Crusade, and back then, team deathmatch battles were really the only way to earn the best PvP items. With your arena team, you have to earn a certain rating to even get access to the epic loot. If you want to do just that, you can prepare yourself for the fast-paced arena gameplay currently available in Shadowlands.
What is WoW Classic?
World of Warcraft Classic is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.
