The developers have listened to the players of WoW Classic and have made changes to the Black Lotus! Original: More and more players are demanding changes for the Black Lotus in WoW Classic. The valuable herb is too rare, the market is dominated by a few players (in the best case) or even supposed bots (in the worst case). As a normal player, it is almost impossible to stumble across a Black Lotus while gambling regularly. At the same time, the prices on all servers are getting higher and higher. There are many suggestions for improvement to noticeably improve the situation.
Update from May 29th:
You may have read it already: The developers at Blizzard applied a hotfix to the WoW Classic live servers last night , which brought the following changes with a view to the Black Lotus:
Black Lotus spawn rates are increased
There will be more Black Lotus spawn locations in the four zones.
Dead characters can only see Black Lotus on screen or on the minimap if they have Herbalism 300.
Original message from May 28th:
When it comes to collectible resources, there is in WoW (buy now) Classic probably no resource that is as rare and therefore valuable as the Black Lotus . The herb can only grow at ten spawn points in four high-level zones. Only one Black Lotus spawns per area and once collected, it takes about 45 to 80 minutes for a new Lotus to grow.
Even assuming that each lotus is collected just moments after spawning, the maximum number of Black Lotus that can be collected on a server per day, week, or month is comparatively small. Even more so when you consider the populations of the classic servers , which are many times higher than the populations of vanilla WoW realms at the time.
In addition, there is a tough competition for the Black Lotus on many servers. Some players use dead level 1 characters to check if a lotus has appeared at the various potential spawn points. Others use well-placed hunters or shamans to keep an eye on multiple lotus locations with eagle eye or farsight . Still others will park their level 60 character in one spot and hope for the best while doing something else at the same time. And then of course there are those who purposefully keep riding back and forth between the different spawn positions. Just stumbling across a Black Lotus while playing regularly is virtually impossible on most classic servers or the result of tremendous luck.
More and more players are demanding changes to the Black Lotus
As Classic progresses and we get closer to the final stages of content, player criticism has grown louder:
The limited spawn times and spawn locations do not suit the large Classic populations.
The market is dominated by a few players and bots.
As a normal player, you can forget about farming Black Lotus.
The prices of Black Lotus and related products have been going higher and higher for months.
Black Lotus is required to craft Gurubashi Mojo Madness , which is used to summon one of several optional bosses in Zul’Gurub. So, among other things, Black Lotus is linked to access to game content.
Some guilds require their members to throw in flasks brewed with Black Lotus during progress phases, special runs (e.g. speed run), or even at all times. The extreme market situation here puts pressure on players who cannot constantly farm for hours to be able to afford the Black Lotus or the flasks.
In addition to the criticism, there are also many suggestions for improvement that can noticeably improve the situation for normal players and at the same time reduce the attractiveness of the herb for bots:
Decreased Black Lotus spawn times.
More spawn locations per zone for Black Lotus to grow.
Dynamic spawn rates depending on server population.
Similar to The Burning Crusade, Black Lotus can be found with luck in other herbs, preferably high-level herbs that are very rare or non-existent in instances ( e.g. Silver Wisdom ).
The herbs grown should only be visible when the character is alive.
When transferring servers, there must be a cap on Black Lotus that you can take with you to the new server.
Should Blizzard listen to players?
Personally, I’m also arguing here that Blizzard should make some or even all of the improvements mentioned above. Because the populations in Classic are so huge even now, because bots are just a problem in Classic, and because any herbalist who regularly roams the high-tier zones should have the chance to stumble across a lotus every now and then.
Don’t forget that the mentality in Classic is different than it was in Vanilla. World buffs are just part of the meta for many guilds. Likewise the flasks, which compared to the later flasks in TBC and Wrath of the Lich King just provide an absurdly powerful stat increase. You don’t have to like it, but that’s the way it is. The above adjustments would at least ensure that more lotus ends up in circulation, the prices drop and you can also afford your weekly raid bottle with significantly less effort. Only the bot users can lose here and that is also desirable.
Now are you asked? How do you rate the “Black Lotus” situation on your Classic server? Do you want adjustments or should everything stay the same?
What is WoW Classic?
