WoW Battle for Azeroth – Rexxar – The Champion of the Horde through the ages

In the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion Battle for Azeroth, not only will there be exciting new allied races for you to play, but many NPCs and creatures will get a makeover to make them more contemporary. One of them is Rexxar, the champion of the Horde, and since there were a number of models for the legend, we want to introduce them in this special.

Anyone who hears the name Rexxar and has been around since will surely remember the brawny orcish champion of the Horde, who roamed around with his bear companion Desolace back in the day, putting the fear of God into unwary allies. Rexxar is a member of the Mok’Nathal clan of Draenor, the Outland in The Burning Crusade and the parallel world in Warlords of Dranor. The clan consists almost entirely of half-ogres, or more accurately, it consisted almost entirely of half-ogres, as the Mok’Nathal are considered extinct. Rexxar – half-ogre, half-orc – is considered the last of his kind, but does not give up the search for more Mok’Nathal.

Rexxar temporarily joined the Horde when the shaman Ner’zhul still led the orc forces. After witnessing the destruction of Draenor in what is now Outland and seeing the orcs as bloodthirsty and ruthless murderers, the Mok’Nathal turned his back on the Horde. From then on, Rexxar would rely only on animal companions, and in his travels through Azeroth he met his now iconic bear companion, Misha.

Rexxar and Misha make their first appearance in the real-time strategy game Warcraft 3, where he appears as a Beastmaster in the campaign The Foundation of Durotar in the expansion The Frozen Throne. After the aforementioned first appearance in World of Warcraft Classic, he can be found with a new model in the first expansion, The Burning Crusade, where he goes in search of his relatives, whom he eventually finds in the mountains of Blade’s Edge. Cut off from the turbulent events of Azeroth in Outland, he plays no role in the expansions until Warlords of Draenor. In the current Legion expansion, he is once again present in the Hunter’s Hall of Class and its class mount quest. What role he will play in the next Battle for Azeroth expansion is currently unknown – but his new model could indicate a larger role.

Rexxar represents the Hunter class in the online collectible card game Hearthstone and made a unique appearance as Deathstalker Rexxar in the Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion. Also worth mentioning is his special role as a warrior in the online team combat game Heroes of the Storm , where there are very interesting model variants in the form of skins like Frostlord or Space Marine.
