WoW: Aldor or Seer – which Shattrath faction is the best for you?

WoW: Aldor or Seer - which Shattrath faction is the best for you? This for WoW: Burning Crusade Classic revolves around one of the most important choices you’ll have to make with each character throughout your Outland adventure: Will you join the Aldor or Seers in Shattrath? We’ll give you all the information you need to make the best decision for you.

When the Outland adventure starts with the launch of Burning Crusade Classic, countless quests, factions and challenges await us in the new zones. Already in the leveling phase from level 60 to level 70, there is a whole series of milestones that you should ideally take as early as possible. At the same time, you will have to make one or two important decisions.

One of the most important choices awaits you in the TBC capital Shattrath, where you have to decide for one of the local factions: Aldor or Seer? How this choice will affect you and what advantages the two communities offer, that’s what this guide is about.

Two opposing factions, one city

From your first visit to Shattrath, you’ll notice that the city is ruled by two opposing factions: the Aldor and the Seers. Clearly separated from each other, heavily guarded and – without a flight mount – almost only accessible via an elevator are the Aldor Heights in the northwest and the Seers’ Staircase in the southwest. Up there you will find stable masters, an inn, several quest givers, NPCs where you can exchange certain items for reputation or tokens for animal set parts, or teachers and merchants for some professions. NOTE: The Jewelcrafting crew is located on Aldor Heights, while the Enchanting NPCs are located on the Seer’s Staircase. If you choose the other faction, you will have to visit other teachers for the corresponding professions.

In addition, both factions have also made themselves comfortable with a dwelling on the Terrace of Light. There you can access your bank boxes, the auction house or – as soon as implemented – the guild bank. You’ll also find the all-important faction armorer for each faction, an apothecary where you can exchange Illidari paints for flasks (only under certain conditions), and a scribe who can offer you various shoulder enchantments.

Aldor versus Seer – why is this an issue?

WoW: Aldor or Seer - which Shattrath faction is the best for you?As soon as you arrive in Shattrath, you have to choose a side. In fact, it already starts when you roam through the forests of Terrokar on your way to Shattrath. Because then you will meet a gaunt war betrayer at the gates of the city, who will give you the quest A’dal. This quest will lead you to the eponymous leader of the Sha’tar, a conspicuous light being right in the middle of the city.

Talk to A’dal and accept the quest, which will lead you to Archmage Khadgar and the City of Light quest. Khadgar will now summon a Voidwalker to guide you through Shattrath, telling you the history of the city. Back at Khadgar, you are then to make your choice. You’ll be rewarded with a whopping 3,850 reputation points with the chosen faction, so you’ll climb to the Friendly reputation level in one fell swoop. The other faction, on the other hand, is no longer well disposed towards you.

The problem (or good thing) is that the two factions offer their allies different equipment, recipes, shoulder inscriptions and so on. In other words, you will never have access to the advantages of both factions. And because this is the case, you should know exactly which advantages which faction offers before you visit Khadgar.

How to increase your reputation with the Aldor and Seers

On both faction sides, you can trade in certain items at Friendly reputation level for additional reputation gain. For example, the Seers will take all Firewing Signets (10 Firewing Signets = 250 reputation points), Sunwrath Signets (10 Sunwrath Signets = 250 reputation points), or Folios (1 Arcane Folio = 350 reputation points).

At the Aldor, you can exchange Male of Kil’jaeden (10 Male of Kil’jaeden = 250 reputation points), Male of Sargeras (10 Male of Sargeras = 250 reputation points), or a Devilish Weapon (1 Devilish Weapon = 350 reputation points) for reputation. The necessary quest givers can be found, as already written, on the corresponding terraces in Shattrath.

Tip: Since you can’t give away the Marks of Kil’jaeden / Signet of the Wings of Fire anymore after Benevolent, you should only spend the Marks of Sargeras / Signet of Sun Wrath and the Arcane Tomes / Fiendish Weapons at the end. In other words, don’t give away the Marks of Sargeras / Seal of Sun Wrath and the Arcane Folios / Fiendish Weapons until you reach the Benevolent reputation level.

By the way: All these items are not bound when you pick them up. You can also buy the items in the auction house or sell them to other players there. You can also get the reputation items through many of the quests in Outland or by killing certain enemy types.

If you want to ally with the Seers, check out the Firewing post in Terokkar Woods, for example. Aldor followers hunt down enemies at the construction camps in Nagrand or at the cabal camps in Bone Desert, also in Terokkar Woods. From them, however, you can only obtain the Marks of Kil’jaeden / Signet of the Wings of Fire. You can get the Marks of Sargeras / Signet of Sun Wrath from the enemies in Netherstorm or Shadowmoon Valley. For the Signets, we recommend the Mana Forges in Netherstorm, while the Marks are easiest to farm from the Demons in the Legion Stronghold in Shadowmoon Vale.

Epic Necklaces from Patch 2.4

Epic necklaces came into play with the Sunwell patch 2.4 at the time, and their effects depend on whether you have a revered reputation with the Aldor or Seers.

Shattered Sun Acumen Pendant (Spells you cast have a chance to be enhanced by arcane powers if you have awesome reputation with the Seers, or by the Powers of Light if you have awesome reputation with the Aldor. / Aldor: chance to deal 120 spell damage & spell healing for 10 seconds, Seers: chance to deal an additional 333 to 367 arcane damage at the target).

Restoration Pendant of the Shattered Sun (Your healing spells have a chance to be boosted by arcane powers if you enjoy honorable reputation with the Seers, or by the Powers of Light if you enjoy honorable reputation with the Aldor . / Aldor: chance to gain 220 healing power & 74 spell power for 10 sec, Seers: chance to heal current target for 618 to 682).

Resolver of the Shattered Sun (Your melee and ranged attacks have a chance to be boosted by arcane powers if you have honorable reputation with the Seers, or by the powers of light if you have honorable reputation with the Aldor. / Aldor: chance to gain 100 Dodge Rating for 10 sec, Seers: chance to gain 100 Weapon Rating for 10 sec).

Lore Followers of the Shattered Sun (Your melee and ranged attacks have a chance to be boosted by arcane powers if you enjoy honorable reputation with the Seers, or by the Powers of Light if you enjoy honorable reputation with the Aldor. / Aldor: chance to gain 200 attack power for 10 seconds, Seer: chance to gain Arcane Strike, which deals 350 to 400 damage (can hit critically)).

Deadly Elevators, Flight Point Comfort.

It may be a small thing, but this small thing can cost your virtual life: the Seer’s Staircase is not quite as lofty as Aldor’s Heights. If you fall from the Aldor Heights, for example, because you misjudged the elevator, you are heroic. However, most Azeroth fighters should survive a fall from the Seer’s Staircase.

Another plus for the Seers is that their base is closer to the Flight Master. For some players, this may be a factor. Similarly, the factions have different flight points in Shadowmoon Valley. The Seers offer a flight point at the Sanctum of Stars in the southeast of the zone. Aldor followers may fly to the Altar of Sha’tar in the northeast.

Aldor or seer? The conclusion

  • As you can see, the choice of faction depends on many, many factors.
  • Are you keen on some of the exclusive profession recipes?
  • If you’re an enchanter or jeweler, do you want to have an NPC contact right in Shattrath?
  • Could you use some of the gear and weapons from the armorer or quests in preparation for the raid area?
  • Which shoulder enchantment gives you the better stats combination?
  • Do you like a proc effect of epic necklaces much better than its counterpart?
  • And how important is convenience to you when it comes to travel times and elevators?

For many of these points, it also depends on how ambitious you want to be when playing Burning Crusade Classic. If you’re a fast paced Tier 4 raider, or if you’re looking to earn PvP rewards like the good weapons in the Arena, you won’t find many of the items listed in this article very useful.

The same is true if you’re in full raid progression with the introduction of epic necklaces in patch 2.4, and you can earn better options for the slot in Tier 6. And as far as shoulder enchantments go, they’re pretty close in many cases. Depending on the value prioritization of your desired class specialization, however, this is probably the most important factor in choosing between Aldor and Seer for most players.

  • Mage: spell damage > critical strike chance => Aldor (but note that you will then have to give up the Seer’s Blood Gem / players with minmaxing ambitions will switch factions as soon as they don’t need the Trinket anymore).
  • Warlock: spell damage > critical spell hit chance => Aldor (but note that you will have to give up Blood Jewel of the Seers / players with minmaxing ambitions will change faction as soon as they don’t need the Trinket anymore)
  • Rogue: both enchantments are almost equal (in phase 1 the Aldor enchantment will be slightly better) / Aldor for sword rogues, Seer for dagger rogues
  • Warrior: defense > evasion rating => tanks choose seer / offensive warriors face the same situation as rogues: shoulder enchantments are very close.
  • Paladin: defense > evasion rating => tanks prefer seer enchantment / healing power > Mp5 => healers prefer aldor enchantment / retaliators face the same situation as rogues and off-warriors: the shoulder enchantments are very close to each other.
  • Priest: Healing Power > Mp5 => Healers prefer Aldor Enchantment / Spell Damage > Critical Spell Hit Chance => Shadow Priests prefer Aldor.
  • Druid: (once you reach the defense cap) Evasion rating > defense => tanks prefer Aldor / Healing power > Mp5 => healers prefer Aldor / Spell damage > critical spell hit chance => owls prefer Aldor / for fierceness the enchantments are again close to each other
  • Shamans: attack power > critical hit chance => Boosters prefer Aldor / Healing Power > Mp5 => Healers prefer Aldor / the enchantments for Elemental are almost the same
  • Hunter: the enchantments are almost equal, with a minimal advantage for seer

How can I change the faction?

If you make the wrong decision when talking to Khadgar and want to change factions afterwards, there is a (tedious) way to do so. For both sides you will find an NPC in the lower quarter in Shattrath, where you can do a repeatable quest up to the reputation level Neutral.

What is ?
