The son of 70-year-old player “Zanegreen” turns to the community in the subreddit with a request for help. He says his father was unfairly banned in World of Warcraft and now he doesn’t know what to do. But the story has a happy ending.
That’s why Zanegreen was banned: In the official subreddit of WoW, the son of Zanegreen spoke up on January 21. In a thread he explained that his father was mistaken for a bot and therefore received a ban for 6 months.
He has been playing WoW since the launch of Burning Crusade. He is a 70 year old man who just likes to quest and level new characters. He doesn’t talk much. From the outside looking in… yes, he appears to be a bot. But it’s just an old man who loves the fantasy elements of the game and the world. He has probably created around 10 hunters by now. […]
He was banned for 6 months. Because he plays the way Blizzard probably expects bots to play. But he’s been playing like that for almost a decade. It’s something he really loves, especially now that he’s retired. […]

The son goes on to say in his post that he and his brother have already contacted Blizzard support several times. But they could not achieve anything and their father remained banned. Which is why he turned to the subreddit.
He posted the ban date and the number of the first ticket so that other reddit users could request a revision of the ban.
Happy ending with bonus
This is how it went on: The reddit thread garnered over 4,000 within a day and attracted Blizzard’s attention. While some of the users there expressed skepticism about the veracity of the story, others pledged their sympathy and support.
Some told that their parents or other family members also play WoW in an “unusual” way. They would travel alone or just look at the landscapes and read quest texts.
In response, community member Kalviery came forward in the thread with an offer to talk. However, he emphasized that due to privacy issues he can only talk to the owner of the account, i.e. Zanegreen himself.
If the thread opener wants to, he can private message me with the ticket number and I will make sure it is handled correctly. But I won’t be able to give him any more information.

Zangreen has good news for reddit users
The contact was successful and a short time later the son opened a second thread about his father being unbanned. The two spoke on the phone and Zanegreen would be “beside himself with joy”.
The son thanked users and Kalviery for their help and posted pictures of his father with a note saying “Thank you reddit!” and a screenshot of the unblocking notification as evidence. As compensation for the unjust ban, the account was credited with 30 days of game time.
He should tell users from his father that “Zangreen – Tichondrius and the guild ‘The Chubby Emus’ think they are all fantastic”.
So there was still a happy ending for the retiree thanks to the reddit community. However, it is not the only beautiful story from WoW:
Nice story in WoW shows that there are still nice players in MMORPGs
