When Blizzard September 2021 officially opened the first – Season of the championship of World of Warcraft presented, there was a whole series of questionsone of which was not answered until recently: What actually happens at the end of the – Season to the characters that so much time and energy has gone into? Do they end up with the Spirit Healer forever? Can we transfer them to other servers? And with the final phase of the current – Season just around the corner, it’s time for Blizzard to answer this question.

From the SdM off to Northrend!

The topic has been discussed in recent weeks in this thread from the official WoW forum, among others. And that’s exactly where Classic Game Producer Aggrend spoke up a few hours ago.

“Since the beginning of the Championship – Season , the question of where the characters of the – Season would end up has been a hot topic of discussion, not only for the community, but also for our team internally. We’ve spent a lot of time talking amongst ourselves, talking to SdM players, and reading comments on the forums and social media, and it’s very clear that there is a strong desire to be able to continue your – Season al characters’ adventures in Wrath of the Lich King Classic. We’re happy to let everyone know that there will be an opportunity for Championship – Season characters to transition to the Classic Era or Wrath of the Lich King Classic for free when the current – Season ends.

It’s likely that you have questions about this, and we hope to announce more details soon. As for the schedule, this is still a ways off and will happen sometime after Naxxramas is released in SdM. We want to make sure Naxxramas has enough time to breathe before we start this process and players find their new homes for their – Season al characters.”

Mixed feedback from the players

Blizzard is implementing a request from many SdM players who would like to continue playing their characters after the – Season . Some players ask: Why is there only talk of Classic Era and WotLK Classic here? The answer is quite likely that there will be no more TBC Classic when the Naxxramas theme ends on the SdM servers. So don’t count on being one of the first players at the Northrend party with your – Season al characters.

However, there are also some players who are not very enthusiastic about the decision. They list the following criticisms:

• It’s just a way to bring a lot more Rank 14 players and Scarab Lords to Northrend, which some players apparently fear will hurt the prestige of these achievements. One player even speaks of an insult to all players who have earned these titles the hard way in Classic.
• By making the leveling period in the – Season comparatively short, Blizzard would be offering players a sort of shortcut on the way to Northrend, which is mainly meant to disadvantage players who start on the restart servers.
• This announcement comes way too late. Some players are disappointed because they would have played the – Season with this information in mind. Since this info didn’t exist at the time, they decided against it, which they now regret (and blame Blizzard for).
