- World of WarCraft: Burning Crusade Classic to be released on June 1
- An advertisement on Battle.net, which quickly disappeared, showed the date
Update from May 7, 2021: The release date for World of WarCraft: Burning Crusade has now been officially announced. On June 1, 2021, the optional expansion for WoW Classic will be released. At 23:00 you can expand the classic MMORGP with blood elves and draenei, flying mounts, level cap increase to 70, arena PvP and much more.
The WoW map will also receive new urban areas – the Azuremyst Islands and Eversong Woods – and Outland, where the demonic forces of the Burning Legion are preparing to attack Azeroth. Access to Burning Crusade Classic is free of charge. Those who don’t want to expand their Classic mode can continue playing on a brand new Classic Era realm starting May 18.
Check out the official World of WarCraft website to learn more about the new Classic expansion and the different servers and options Classic players will soon be able to choose from.
Original news from May 5, 2021: The release date of World of WarCraft Burning Crusade Classic might have been leaked by an accidental early advertisement on Battle.net. According to this, the new Classic mode will be released on June 1, 2021.
“On June 1, you’ll return to Outland in World of WarCraft: Burning Crusade Classic,” said the ad, which was only briefly visible on Battle.net and then disappeared very quickly.
As Wowhead reports, the ad disappeared when switching tabs or scrolling the news, which indicates that it should not be available to the public eye yet. Thus, the ad could also refer to a pre-patch or just serve as a stopgap for the official launch date.
But there is a possibility that it is indeed the release date and that it will be announced quite officially soon. At least not yet with Activision Blizzard’s latest financial results, which were released during the night. Let’s see what the future brings.
Announced at BlizzConline earlier this year, the remake of World of WarCraft: Burning Crusade will let its players “return to Outland as it once was to relive an era of timeless adventure – or discover for the first time what awaits beyond the Dark Portal.”
Shortly before the digital BlizzCon, details about World of WarCraft: Burning Crusade Classic were already leaked by being accidentally pre-released. Something similar might have happened with the release date now. After a third leak at the latest, I no longer believe in coincidence!
Classic players can decide for themselves if they want to continue playing Burning Crusade or if they’d rather stick with Classic without expansion bells and whistles. The beta test for WoW: Burning Crusade Classic started at the end of March.
