This year, for the first time, Pokémon GO is also represented at the Pokémon World Championships. Today, the game launches a big event for its fans.
San Francisco – “I want to be the very best, like no one was before me!” This intro text is probably familiar to anyone who calls themselves a Pokémon fan. Since the beginning, the game has not only been about catching the cute pocket monsters, but also about winning battles. That’s why the Pokémon World Championships are held every year. In 2022, Pokémon GO is finally represented and celebrates this with a big event.
Pokémon GO: World Championship event starts – the most important info at a glance.
Then the event runs: The Pokémon GO World Championship event runs concurrently with the Pokémon World Championships. These begin on August 18 at 10 a.m. German time. While the official World Championships will already end on August 21, the event in Pokémon GO will continue until August 23. So fans have a few days to catch all the Pokémon, evolve them and get the great bonuses.
- Launch: August 18, 10 am
- End: August 23, 8 pm
The World Championship event isn’t the last event fans shouldn’t miss this month, though: all Pokémon GO events in August 2022.
This new Pokémon is available: To celebrate this special event, Pokémon GO will also introduce a new monster to the game. The developers from San Francisco have specially designed a new costume for Pikachu. For the World Championship event, you can therefore meet the World Championship 2022 Pikachu, which is also catchable as Shiny.
All bonuses at a glance: For the Pokémon GO World Championship event, there are of course bonuses for all trainers. It’s all about fighting, after all, the very best is to be crowned. These bonuses are available for the event:
- Challenge at PokéStops: Trainers* appear at PokéStops with Pokémon teams based on the winning teams from the regional championships.
- Many battles: For the event, you can complete a full 10 battle sets in the GO Battle League – that’s up to 50 battles a day.
- Stardust Bonuses: As a reward for victories in the GO Battle League, you will receive three times the amount of stardust.
Pokémon GO: World Championship Event – Limited Research and All Wild Monsters.
Temporary Research: For the Pokémon GO World Championship event, there will also be a Limited Research. It is not yet known what the tasks for this will look like. However, we already know what rewards await you. Those who complete the Temporary Research will receive the new World Championship 2022 Pikachu, as well as a Top Instant TM and a Top Charge TM. These two items can be used to learn exclusive attacks outside of special events.
Pokémon in the wild: For the big World Championship event in Pokémon GO, special Pokémon also appear in the wild. Here are some monsters that should not be missing from your team:

Pokémon World Championships in August 2022 – Pokémon GO for the first time.
Pokémon- World Championships track: The Pokémon World Championships will take place from August 18 to 21. Those who want to watch the event can either travel to the venue in London or watch via stream. The stream is in English and will be broadcast on the Pokémon GO Twitch channel. The broadcast will start at 10 a.m. German time on all days.
Special Avatar Items: For the World Championship event in Pokémon GO, there will be brand new avatar items in the in-game store. These items will be available:

- Unlight sports top

- World Championships 2022 T-shirt
The first four avatar items will be available to find and purchase in the in-game store. All four items are inspired by the Galar region. The World Championships 2022 T-shirt will be available in two versions: for spectators and participants. The latter will only be available at the Pokémon GO booth at the Pokémon World Championships in London. The spectator t-shirt will be available via a promo code that will be shared in the livestream.
