Update from 5.4.2022: Yes is it October again? Not quite. Nevertheless, the Halloween Cup will take place in Pokémon GO starting today. The reason for this is not a bug, but the Pokémon GO Battle League mid– Season . The Battle League is currently on break and therefore offers a different Cup every week to compensate. The most recent one was the Mini Jungle Cup, and now it continues with the Halloween Cup in Pokémon GO. We have therefore updated our guide and tell you the best Pokémon and teams to win the Halloween Cup in Pokémon GO.

First reported on 10/15/2021: San Francisco – The PvP League in Pokémon GO has grown with the Halloween Cup. You can only use Pokémon of special types and have to compete with other trainers. The Halloween Cup is especially interesting because you have to play in this Cup anyway due to limited research. So which Pokémon should you use? We show you the strongest teams and best Pokémon for the Halloween Cup in Pokémon GO.

When will the Halloween Cup take place?

The Halloween Cup normally runs from October 15 to November 2. So you can take advantage of this special Cup for a whole 17 days. After that, the Hyper League returns to PvP and – Season 9 in Pokémon GO rotates. In addition to the Halloween Cup, the Super League is also still active. Trainers can participate until April 12 and receive 3 times the amount of stardust for victories.

These are the rules in the Halloween Cup:

There are two important things you must follow here. Only Pokémon with a maximum of 1,500 WP may be used in battle. Also, all monsters must be of the Poison, Beetle, Spirit, Unlight, or Fairy types. So you are very limited in your choice.

Pokémon GO: Halloween Cup – The best Pokémon for the PvP League

Basically, despite the restriction, there are still a lot of Pokémon that you can use effectively in the Halloween Cup. We list the 20 best Pokémon for the Halloween Cup here, and below we tell you why some Pokémon are so strong. The attacks marked with a star can only be taught by Top TM. They are exclusive attacks that are no longer available:

As the best Pokémon for the Halloween Cup, many experts* consider Grypheldis called. The Pokémon scores with an enormous steadfastness in battle and strong attacks that can defeat ALoLa-Knogga, Apoquallyp and Bibor, among others, Grypheldis is very versatile and therefore particularly useful.

One of the biggest enemies of Grypheldis is. Golbat. It is a strong counter and also has very fast attacks that can quickly draw out the shields. Besides Grypheldis, Golbat is also the winner against Azumarill, Nidoqueen and ALoLa-Knogga.

Azumarill is also a strong counter to Grypheldis and is also effective against other Unlight Pokémon. However, it scores mostly as a defensive Pokémon that can withstand a lot of damage. If you like to play a little safer, you should go for Azumarill.

Duodino is a Pokémon that can be ideally used against almost all monsters. Through the attack Bodyslam it does strong neutral damage and can draw out many shields. It is also strong in defense.

Bibor is more of an offensive Pokémon, which can withstand a little less damage. But it is fast and strong in attack. It easily defeats Azumarill and also wins against Nidoqueen and Nachtara. It is especially ideal if you want to draw out the shields of your opponents at the beginning.

Pokémon GO: Halloween Cup – Three strong teams for the Cup

Best Team: There is no such thing as the ideal team for battle, however, you can build strong teams that can at least survive many Pokémon. However, it also depends a lot on tactics. Use your shields effectively and change your Pokémon smartly. This is the only way to victory. Here we present three teams that are particularly well suited for the Halloween Cup. Keep the following strategy in mind when building your team:

• Lead: You should send the Lead Pokémon into battle in the Halloween Cup first. Make sure it is effective against popular monsters in the Halloween Cup. This way, you can defeat the first monster of the opponent directly or force the trainer* to switch.
• Safe-Switch: Safe-Switch should be an all-rounder that can both defeat common counters from the lead and effectively take down other monsters. It should be the monster you choose when no other Pokémon of yours is effective.
• Cover: The cover Pokémon should be the bodyguard of your lead. So choose a Pokémon that can perfectly protect your Lead’s weaknesses. With this Pokémon, it doesn’t even matter if it loses easily to other monsters. It only serves to protect the lead.

If you follow this strategy, then you can build these three teams, among others, very effectively:

This team is made up of very popular Pokémon, making it pretty darn effective. Grypheldis provides a lot of damage and defeats popular monsters like ALoLa-Knogga or Bibor. Golbat, on the other hand, provides protection and is a strong counter against Azumarill, Nidoqueen and Grypheldis. ALoLa-Vulnona should be used when opponents fight with Nachtara or whenever no other Pokémon is effective.

This team is already built a bit more offensively, but can be very strong. Bibor defeats Nidoqueen, Azumarill, Nachtara, and ALoLa-Vulnona. In addition, it lures out the shields. Nidoqueen is the perfect bodyguard for Bibor because it defeats Grypheldis, ALoLa-Knogga, and Golbat, the three best counters against Bibor. Nachtara is then versatile and deals solid neutral damage.

With this team, you’re mainly speculating on the opponent*s starter Pokémon. With Nidoqueen, you’ll be effective against Grypheldis, ALoLa-Knogga, and Golbat, and could force opponents* to switch directly if they use such a monster. Apoquallyp is Nidoqueen’s bodyguard and defeats ALoLa-Vulnona and Azumarill, the two best counters against Nidoqueen. Duodino is strong against Nachtara, which is also effective against Nidoqueen, and deals solid neutral damage with the Normal Attack Bodyslam.
