Only recently, the second beta test of Overwatch 2 came to an end. However, since the Free2Play launch of the multiplayer shooter is still waiting until October, many fans are wondering if there might be another test phase will give. To this end, the development studio has now Blizzard Entertainment voiced – with rather bad news.
More beta tests for Overwatch 2?
In principle, there is still plenty of time to at least a further beta test to organize. However, the developers apparently have other plans. Jon Spector, vice president of Blizzard Entertainment, recently spoke out via Twitter and gave further testing phases a refusal – at least for the public.
“As of today, we are just two months away from the launch of Overwatch 2.. We know people can’t wait to get in. There have also been questions around the possibility of a third public beta. We continue to test Overwatch 2 internally on a daily basis, but there are no further public tests planned. With all the valuable feedback we’ve received from the alpha and two public beta tests, we’ll focus our efforts on releasing the best game possible on October 4.”

According to this, there definitely won’t be another opportunity for fans to play Overwatch 2 before the launch on October 4, 2022 to play. Some of them had expected a third beta in which they could the third new character would get to see the third new character in the bunch. In the first beta, the DPS character Sojourn was available, while the second beta saw the debut of the nefarious Junker Queen. According to Blizzard’s statements, the launch will also feature a new support character is introduced, about which there are only vague hints so far. A third beta would have been the ideal opportunity to introduce this still secret character. But Blizzard apparently has other plans.
