Why fantasy football is the best thing?

is its own sport in the U.S. – with more than 60 million active players
– The – Season kicks off with the NFL on Sept. 8 and continues until near the end of the regular – Season
– Fantasy teams will receive points for the performance of the real players on their squad

My love of fantasy football has to do with the many questions that arise from the game. I used to try to get an edge over my peers with the help of a variety of websites, statements on Twitter, and the assessments in the respective fantasy app. As an expert, I currently answer the community’s most pressing questions every Thursday during the – Season with colleagues Detti and Chris in our podcast LOCKER ROOM. We try to clear the fantasy thicket a bit and help our listeners increase their chances of winning the league. Questions abound:

Which running back will make a bigger leap in performance this – Season : David Montgomery or Najee Harris? Can Christian McCaffrey return to full speed after two injury-plagued – Season s? Is ’s arm starting to give out? And, which rookie will be right on the field? Just to name a few current ones. The questions before the fantasy draft are many and mostly impossible to answer soundly. None of us are close to the teams and so we rely on selected fantasy experts in the US who get their information directly from the beat writers – the journalists at the teams. During the – Season , it often comes down to the question: Player A or Player B – who should I draft?

Decisive for the fantasy – Season is the draft

Since most fantasy leagues completely re-draft their teams before the – Season , this draft night in late summer is quite crucial to how the – Season goes. In just under 15 rounds, league participants select their players one at a time. Who starts is randomly determined by the system. Whoever starts in the first round finishes the second round – the so-called snake order. Which pick is the best – experts have been arguing about that for years. I really like the number six or seven pick. There’s less risk of a real top star getting injured quickly or disappointing out of form, and I can pick a second relatively quickly and strengthen my team with a second point guard. Others love the drama of the first pick, or the ability to pick twice in a row at the other end of the chain.

Teams that fail in “real life” NFL can come out on top in fantasy leagues

Then during the – Season , the fun continues. On Sunday, I’m shivering along with the Redzone Conference on DAZN because my players are active and cheering them on even though they’re not on my favorite team. In the real NFL, teams can accumulate defeats for years and see little light at the end of the tunnel. Fans of those teams can continue to positively relate to the sport in exchange for success in the fantasy counterpart and cheering for other players. For me, fantasy football is perfect just because of the NFL’s “one team to win it all” mentality to still be on the ball and enjoy game day. It completes the American football media product and makes it an entertainment product for all fans at all times – not just those of the winners. Anyone who wants to understand the NFL as a fan should look into Fascination Fantasy.

Fantasy football makes the “NFL Football” experience complete

By the way, there’s nothing like falling asleep at midnight on a Sunday trailing and then winning the duel with a good friend after all. The banter, discussions and wow moments are just too good! I’m already looking forward to the coming months! Thank you Fantasy Football that you exist.

By the way, it’s been around since 1962, when Oakland Raiders co-owner Bill Winkenbach founded the Greater Oakland Professional Pigskin Prognosticators League and, with friends, drafted players from the NFL and its rival league, the AFL, and gave the players points for their performances. So much like today.
