Who will win the LoL Worlds 2021? Odds, Stars and Germans – eSportsNews eSports LoL

On October 5, 2021, the Worlds will kick off. We at MeinMMO take a look at the betting odds to see which team has the best chance of winning the LoL Worlds 2021. Who will be the stars in LoL? Which legends and newcomers should you keep an eye on? What are the chances of the German?

When run the LoL Worlds 2021:

  • The Worlds will start on October 5 with the play-ins.
  • It ends on November 6, 2021 with the grand final.

The World Cup will be held in Reyjvkaviv, Iceland. A total of 22 teams from 11 regions will take part in the tournament.

The top 3 favorites all come from Asia

These teams are favored to win the LoL Worlds 2021:

The bookmakers have identified three clear favorites before the start of the Worlds:

  • FunPlus Phoenix has the best chance of winning – this is the Chinese world champion from 2019
  • DWG KIA comes in close behind in 2nd place – the reigning world champion from South Korea.
  • Edward is in 3rd place – a husky team from China that runs under the radar because it doesn’t have the big stars like the other two teams do

LoL-Faker-Take-Over.v1

The “unkillable demon king”, Faker, is considered a co-favorite for the TItel.

2 teams from Europe in the extended circle of favorites

Who comes next? Outsider chances conceded to 5 other teams:

  • The MAD Lions are the most successful team from Europe – but their chances to win the World Cup are considered to be about 4 times lower than those of FunPlus Phoenix.
  • Royal Never GIve Up – is the third big team from China. Overall, the bookmakers see the LPL as the strongest
  • T1 – the legendary team around Faker has at least outsider chances. Faker is backed by a strong, young support in 2021
  • Fnatic – the biggest team from Europe is seen relatively far behind in the extended circle of favorites.
  • Gen G. – the veterans from Korea are given similarly few chances as Fnatic

An 18-year-old is considered a “monster” and “genius” in LoL – Yet he plays the most thankless role

Teams from the USA are all rated equally weak

What about the teams from the USA?

The bookmakers give all the teams from the USA terrible chances of winning the Worlds. They are all seen at the same weak level. They are by far the weakest teams in the major regions.

Even the weakest team from Korea, Hamwha Life (the Church of Chovy) still has a much higher chance of winning LoL Worlds than the nominally strongest team from the US, 100 Thieves.

Here, it would be a success if a US team even makes it out of the group stage.

What about the teams from Europe?

MAD Lions are actually considered as co-favorites. They are expected to make it to the semifinals.

Fnatic, the biggest team in Europe, could at least make it to the quarterfinals.

But for Rogue, who got the group of death A, you see pretty black.

LoL Doinb Title

Duos from Midlane and Jungle could dominate LoL Worlds 2021

Who will be the stars of Worlds 2021?

It looks like midlaners and junglers will dominate these Worlds as well.

Favorites FunPlus Phoenix and DWG KIA both have excellent duos at these positions:

  • FunPlus Phoenix has “super-carry” Doinb playing in the midlane. He’s roaming all over the map. Experts believe he’ll be even stronger in 2021 than he was in 2019. Doinb has an outstandingly high KDA of 6.4 – only “knight” (Top-) can match that value. But he didn’t qualify for the Worlds this year.
  • Doinb is complemented by flexible jungler Tian, who became Finals MVP in 2019. This year, however, his statistics in China seem rather mediocre. Other junglers like Jiejie (Edward Gaming), Wei (Royal Never Give Up) or Tarzan (LNG Esports) all had a higher KDA than him.

  • At DWG Kia, Showmaker plays in midlane. He is considered one of the mechanically strongest players in the world. Showmaker had by far the best KDA of all midlaners in the LCK summer – Season with 6.0.
  • His partner is Canyon, who played a hard-hitting “Jungle Carry” in 2020 and jokingly considered himself a “Graves bot.”

But both duos have excellent teammates alongside them, filling mostly supporting roles.

Could there be strong newcomers? One exciting rookie is Frenchman Adam, who is only 19 years old. He was an important part of Fnatic’s risky moves that turned around a messed-up – Season and breathed new life into the team.

Who are the great legends still playing? Many of the big stars from LoL have now retired. Bjergsen and Doublelift, Uzi and Wolf have all ended their careers in recent years. With Bjergsen reportedly toying with the idea of coming back.

However, midlaner “Faker” (25) remains the biggest name in League of Legends. The South Korean won three World Championship titles by 2016 and has been chasing title number four ever since. In 2021, he qualified for the LoL Worlds again with T1 and dreams of making LoL history again with a 4th Worlds title. In the meantime, however, the “unkillable demon king” increasingly looks like a “quite killable demon lord.”

Botlaner “Ruler” (22) is an ADC playing at LoL Worlds who was part of the group that snatched the 2017 Worlds title away from Faker.

At the 2021 Worlds, Croatian Perkz (22) will play for US team Cloud 9: He is one of the best LoL players Europe has ever produced.

We could even see German players in the semifinals

What are the chances of the Germans?

German player Felix “Adebagge” Braun may have led 100 Thieves to the championship title in the USA. But it seems very unlikely that he can get the team out of the group stage. To do so, they would have to get past T1 and Edward Gaming – and it probably won’t be enough.

The chances are better for Fnatic’s ADC, Elias “Upset” Lipp. With PSG Talon they have a solvable task ahead of them, against “Royal Never Give Up” it could be close. The question here is who will be drawn as the 4th team in group C. If it is “Hamwha Life”, the Church of Chovy, it could be tight for Fnatic as well. But the quarterfinals should be possible.

Supporter Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser has the best chance to go far. He will compete with the MAD Lions in group D. Here, “Team Liquid” is an opponent that should be mastered. Gen G. from South Korea also seems to be feasible. The MAD Lions could play a good role at the LoL Worlds 2021 – probably as the only team in the West.

A few years ago, it looked like teams from Europe and the US could keep up with the Asians in the long run. In 2017, Korea was struggling because the old players weren’t good enough and the young players weren’t good enough. But China has caught up strongly in recent years – and the new generation in Korea has now also found new strength, while the “big names” in Europe have to reposition themselves and the USA is obviously struggling with structural problems.
