Proximity Grenade Launcher

Proximity Grenade Launcher was an Explosive Weapon available in Epic and Legendary variants. It used Rockets, and fired a arcing explosive grenade that explodes when in a radius of an enemy.

It was semi-automatic, and could hold 2 rockets at a time while quickly being able to fire and reload shots.

The item was vaulted on Patch 10.20.2, due to it being too accurate and extremely rare to find. Even if used, a Heavy Sniper Rifle and Proximity Grenade Launcher combo would be incredibly powerful. The Proximity Grenade Launcher remains in High Explosives, Unvaulted and Solid Gold(for the Legendary variant).

Strategy

• The Proximity Grenade Launcher is an excellent weapon that can easily counter basic coverings, such as single walls, trees and small rocks. A single round can cause severe damage to the target, so it is best to attack the target with the gun and then eliminating the target with a different weapon.
• The gun can be also useful at long-range attacks thanks to its scope, the round’s fuse time and a much straighter trajectory, but this requires patience and angle of attack to compensate the arc trajectory at longer distances.
• The gun is somewhat slow to fire its two rounds, giving the enemy enough time to react and fight back. Blind-firing can be a good option, so one does not have to take the time at aiming down sights.
• The rounds themselves emmit a bright red light, which may alert the enemies of your position. It is best to move away after firing one or two rounds.

Trivia

• This is the first scoped explosive weapon in Fortnite Battle Royale.
• It uses the same weapon pullout sound as the Common, Uncommon, and Rare Burst Assault Rifle.
• The weapon is based on the XM25 CDTE, known to feature programmable ammunition that was intended to defeat coverings (as emulated by the proximity feature). Said weapon was fitted with a 4-round magazine, while the Proximity Grenade Launcher has a 2-round magazine (presumably as a result of gameplay balance).
• It is one of the only 3 explosive weapons that can hold more than one rocket, the others being the Quad Launcher and the Grenade Launcher. The Rocket Launcher and Guided Missile have a magazine size of 1.
• This combines the worst of the Rocket Launcher and Grenade Launcher because it combines the low clip of an RPG(it does have 2 over 1, GL has 6) and the grenades of a GL over rockets.

Weapons and their rarity

You can fill five inventory slots with weapons and all sorts of other items, such as potions or bandages. The guns are available in different colors, which represent their rarity. The rarer the weapon, the more powerful it is:

• Gray = common
• Green = uncommon
• Blue = rare
• Purple = epic
• Gold = legendary
• Yellow = mythical

It should be mentioned that some special weapons cannot be found in every rarity level.

How does Fortnite work?

“Fortnite: Battle Royale” comes in a variety of game modes. Players can either compete alone, in pairs or in teams of four. The teams are formed either from known players or randomly from strangers. Team members can exchange information and discuss strategies via voice chat.

The gameplay is the same for all modes: At the beginning, all online players are in a virtual waiting room until they are randomly assigned to a game. A round starts with 100 opponents landing on a deserted island. The goal is to beat the other players and to be the last to survive – if you play as a team, you all win together. Opponents are not shown on the overview map after landing on the island. The player must therefore always be on the lookout for attacks. To survive, raw materials and equipment must be collected. Building materials such as wood or stone are obtained with a pickaxe. With the help of these raw materials, protective walls and entire forts can be built to protect against enemy attacks. Players can also overcome cliffs or other obstacles by building stairs and bridges themselves. Weapons and health kits are hidden in crates and piñatas. Good equipment increases the chances of surviving against an opponent. Searching, hiding and building are important parts of the game.
