Weapons Fortnite – Assault Rifles

Assault Rifles

Assault Weapons are a type of in Fortnite: . The purpose of these weapons is for medium range to long range combat, and mostly use Medium Ammo – Icon – Fortnite.png Medium Ammo, however some use Light Ammo – Icon – Fortnite.png Light Ammo.

Functionality

Assault Weapons fill the role of a medium range to long range weapon and are often used for medium ranged combat and quickly destroying structures. Assault Weapons often have shot accuracy, meaning they can fire their first bullet without any bloom. All Assault Weapons are hitscan weapons, meaning the shots the player takes will instantly connect with targets. The medium to high capacity of Assault Rifle magazines means continuous fire can be laid down on targets or structures, allowing for the player to easily break structures or kill an opponent at closer ranges.

Assault Weapons do not fare well at close ranges due to their low hipfire accuracy and sometimes slow fire-rates. Due to this, other weapons such as Shotguns or Submachine guns fill the role better. Exceptions to these are the Light Machine Gun and the Drum Gun, as the latter is unclear on what its weapon classification is, and so acts as an SMG and Assault Rifle at the same time.

Trivia

  • The Drum Gun is unique among this class as it seems to be two classes at once. Although it is classed as an Assault Rifle by its in game classification icon, it will still count for SMG based challenges, and also is in the same place as the other SMGS in the creative menu, with the AR icon still present. This is because the gun was originally an SMG, but later updated to be an Assault Rifle, and so acts as a hybrid between the two.
  • The Infantry Rifle was originally a projectile based weapon, like a Sniper Rifle, before being updated to hitscan to match the other Assault Weapons.

How does Fortnite work?

“Fortnite: Battle Royale” comes in a variety of game modes. Players can either compete alone, in pairs or in teams of four. The teams are formed either from known players or randomly from strangers. Team members can exchange information and discuss via voice chat.

The gameplay is the same for all modes: At the beginning, all online players are in a virtual waiting room until they are randomly assigned to a game. A round starts with 100 opponents landing on a deserted island. The goal is to beat the other players and to be the last to survive – if you play as a team, you all win together. Opponents are not shown on the overview map after landing on the island. The player must therefore always be on the lookout for attacks. To survive, raw materials and equipment must be collected. Building materials such as wood or stone are obtained with a pickaxe. With the help of these raw materials, protective walls and entire forts can be built to protect against enemy attacks. Players can also overcome cliffs or other obstacles by building stairs and bridges themselves. Weapons and health kits are hidden in crates and piñatas. Good equipment increases the chances of surviving against an opponent. Searching, hiding and building are important parts of the game.
