Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Campaign
The WA2000 can be found among the cloaked snipers in the mission Loose Ends. In The Enemy of My Enemy, members of Shadow Company also use the weapon. It is displayed in museum.
Multiplayer
The WA2000 is unlocked in multiplayer at level 36. It is the Dragunov from Call of Duty 4: Modern
Warfare, because they do exactly the same damage and you don’t even need special extras, because the damage multipliers are relatively high. Exceptions are enemies who are behind cover or use painkillers. Without a silencer, the WA2000 kills with one shot from the chest up. Its low recoil makes the weapon a popular choice in any situation. Compared to the M14 EBR or the M21 EBR, the WA2000 has better multipliers and can therefore kill faster. However, the M21 has larger magazines, less recoil, reloads faster and the rate of fire is set higher. Of course, you can still use the WA2000 because because it kills faster, you are likely to waste less ammunition and not give away your position as easily.
The WA2000 has the slowest weapon change time of any gun in the game, 1.25 seconds to get it out, which is as slow as the Intervention and just a bit slower than the RPD and MG4, but also 1.25 seconds to put it away, as lame as any other gun.
The biggest advantage of the WA2000 is its flexibility. Since you do extremely high damage without a silencer, you can create many classes for a wide variety of maps and scenarios. Some examples. Cold-blooded allows you to protect and hide perfectly, while Lightweight makes you a fast and deadly shooter once you get the hang of shooting fast.
The WA2000 is almost identical to the Barrett .50cal, the only differences being that it has less recoil but can’t kill with one shot to the gut. The two weapons have the same amount of maximum damage, but the Barrett is taken out faster. If the player is a confident shooter and can continuously hit the chest or head, the WA2000 should be preferred.
Since the WA2000 reloads rather slowly, you should think about Nimbleness. Nimbleness Pro also makes you take aim much faster, which of course gives you an advantage with a sniper rifle. A silencer is not recommended at all, because it weakens the weapon extremely and you always need a second shot to finish off an enemy. Full metal jacket bullets are questionable, because mostly the thin cover protects the lower half of the body, for which you would need two shots anyway, whether behind cover or in a completely open field. While there’s a lot of grumbling about the silencer, it still prevents you from appearing on radar, so you can virtually pick apart multiple enemies undisturbed without having to watch out for being spotted. Without a silencer, there’s still the Cold Blooded option, which keeps you invisible to enemy drones or thermal sights, so at least you can move around without being seen. The magazine expansion allows the player to make more kills without reloading as often, so if you do the math, you can get between 2 and 6 kills per magazine.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Campaign
The WA2000 only appears in Victor Charlie after the C4 has blown up. The WA2000 and the
Commando then replace the player’s previous display and disappear again as soon as you crawl into the hole in the ground. The weapon is overpowered and kills with one shot no matter where you hit. On the Wii, however, the player gets a Commando and an M1911. The reason for this is unknown.
Multiplayer
The WA2000 is unlocked in multiplayer at level 10. It has the lowest recoil of any sniper rifle in the game. As with the Dragunov, only shots to the head, neck or chest kill instantly. In hardcore game modes, however, you always kill instantly. It’s a bit faster than the Dragunov, so you can fire more shots in a row. Interestingly, the scope has a mere 3.6x zoom, while all other sniper rifles have 4.8x. There are other unique facts. If you have an ACOG sight on it, the time to go into the sight is 0.30 seconds, while all other sniper rifles take 0.35 seconds. The low recoil, quick time to lock on, and ACOG sight make the rifle a deadly projectile at medium range.
Among the disadvantages of the WA2000 is the small magazine of only 6 bullets, because the WA2000 is one of the two sniper rifles that cannot kill with one shot to the gut. While the L96A1 and PSG1 also have a mere 5 bullets in the magazine, they have more reliable multipliers. This can be compensated for with the magazine extension. The low zoom can have advantages, but also disadvantages. If you are waiting in a place that is often visited, you naturally have a better view of your surroundings, because you don’t have to aim so far. On the other hand, you’re at a disadvantage when you’re fighting at a distance on large maps like Array or Hazard. The variable zoom is recommended as long as the player aims at the chest or higher.
The WA2000 is without question the best sniper rifle for a silencer. While you lose the ability to kill with one shot to the chest, it’s much easier to land multiple, quick shots in a row thanks to the low recoil. The Dragunov, which does the same damage with a silencer, has a larger magazine but more recoil. Ultimately, it’s up to the player who wants a sniper rifle with a silencer whether they prefer the larger magazine or the lower recoil, assuming you don’t consider the extra warlord.
Overall, the low recoil and high rate of fire make the WA2000 a pretty easy sniper rifle to use. There are only minor differences from the Modern Warfare 2 version, for example, the wood is lighter and the scope has been changed a bit. The rifle itself takes up much less space in the screen than its predecessor.
Info
Modern Warfare 2
- If you use a heartbeat sensor, the weapon is called “WA2000 Heartbeat”.
- If you reload with a camouflage suit, you can see the sleeves slide through the barrel of the weapon.
- On the upper left half of the barrel you can see a fingerprint. This is still visible even if you have camouflage.

- The firing mode is always set to “safe”, this is best seen from the first person view.
- The M16A4, M4A1 and the WA2000 all make the same noise when reloading. However, when the magazine is empty and you reload, you hear a different sound.
- The player puts the gun away much faster when the ammo is empty.
Black Ops
- The icons for picking up and when someone is killed with the WA2000 do not have a scope.
- Stuck to the side of the WA2000 are six rounds of spare ammo, which also turn the color gold when you apply said camouflage. They have no playful purpose.
- With the gold camouflage the barrel becomes synthetic, this applies to all weapons that have wooden parts (AK-47, FN FAL, RPK, Dragunov). This does not apply to the Wii version.
- The ice camouflage gives the WA2000 unique black color elements.
- A folded bipod hangs in front of the scope.
- The WA2000 and PSG1 are the only sniper rifles not featured in Survival.
- Under the rear of the scope you can read the words “Maxim & Sons Armory” along with the symbol of a sword and shield with the initials “M&S”.
- If you flip open the sight, you can read the word Jackson.
- In the Wii version, the weapon doesn’t have a lens, but the animation still works as if it did.
- Before a patch, the WA2000 did not have a scope in the class editor.
- Picking up the WA2000 takes significantly longer if the weapon has no attachments, while a version with attachments is picked up very quickly.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
