The Vector is a submachine gun from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. It was also seen in earlier trailers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Campaign
The Vector, which is simply called KRISS in the game files, is often used in the campaign, especially by Russian opponents like the Speznas, or Shadow Company. It can be found with many attachments and camouflages. In As in Old Times, the Vector is Soap’s secondary weapon, with a silencer and an ACOG sight.
Multiplayer
The Vector has both the highest rate of fire and the lowest recoil of any submachine gun in the game. It also does the lowest damage per shot. Thanks to its low recoil, the Vector is known as a suitable submachine gun for ranged combat. Despite its category as a submachine gun, it is really better suited for large and open maps. The Vector combines the range and recoil of an assault rifle with the mobility, rate of fire, and hip-fire accuracy of a submachine gun, melding the two into a blend.
Despite these advantages, the Vector also has negative aspects. Because it just burns ammunition due to its high rate of fire, you should use a magazine extender or looter Pro because it will allow you to get more kills in a lifetime or more kills before you need to reload. It should be remembered that the magazine extension does not improve the total ammunition, only the magazine size. Dexterity is useful when the two options just mentioned are not yet available, but it still uses up ammo quickly. The silencer makes the weapon kill with five hits, four if you use firepower.
In Hardcore game modes, the Vector is brilliant thanks to its high rate of fire, because without firepower you kill with two hits from any distance, with firepower you kill with only one shot in close combat.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
The Vector appeared in some early trailers, and you can still find its icon and the weapon’s textures in the game files. In the end, it didn’t make it into the main game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
The Vector appears in Black Ops II under its new name Vector K10. It looks very similar to its predecessor, has the same animations and a similar model, only the magazine size has been increased from 30 to 36 and the foregrip is missing if you don’t screw on the corresponding attachment.
Multiplayer
The Vector K10 is unlocked at level 16 as the third submachine gun. It has real potential in close combat, but outside it becomes weak and unreliable. Its damage is lower than that of the PDW-57 or MSMC, so shots need to be accurate to compensate for that. Along with the Chicom CQB, it has the lowest recoil of any submachine gun with a rate of fire above 937 RPM. With the rapid-fire attachment, you can increase this to 1420 RPM.
The recoil is not only predictable but also fairly easy to control in close combat. It shoots slightly upwards, which of course proves to be especially annoying in ranged combat, but if you fire in volleys, the weapon quickly settles back on the enemy after each volley. Since the Vector does low damage anyway, using a silencer is less tragic than with a very powerful weapon. The Vector generally has average scores in all statistics, but none that would exceed those of any other submachine gun. It is very comparable to the MP7, only with lower recoil, less range, and a different sight. From there, it’s easy to decide which gun you like the rear sight more on, otherwise, the differences are hardly noticeable.
The Vector K10 benefits unusually from the fire mode. It turns it into a submachine gun with 2-shot bursts, drastically reduces recoil, and increases the rate of fire to 1250 RPM. In close combat, you’re certainly at a disadvantage because you have to pull the trigger again after each volley, but at certain ranges, you’ll kill enemies with an amazing rate of fire and utmost precision in no time.
Call of Duty: Ghosts
The Vector returns in Ghosts under the name Vector CRB, but in the game files it’s called KRISS V. It has 32 bullets in the magazine and is now black, not brown as in the previous games.
Multiplayer
The Vector CRB feels more like an assault rifle because it can keep up at ranges where all its counterparts fail. It has the highest melee damage of all the submachine guns and is only beaten in ranged damage by the MTAR-X, yet the Vector definitely has less recoil. It feels strong overall as the UMP45 from Modern Warfare 3, as at 759 RPM they have the same rate of fire, the same magazine capacity of 32 rounds, and the increased wall penetration of an assault rifle.
The Vector can play different roles depending on which attachments and extras you choose. Rapid-fire, for example, makes the Vector more dangerous in close combat, you kill the enemy faster and with fewer hits. On the other hand, its good range and low recoil make it suitable for ranged combat. The muzzle brake can further increase this range, while a rear sight still makes sense because the rear sight can be a bit confusing.
On April 3, the Vector was improved by a patch along with most submachine guns to better keep up with the other weapons. It got 25% more minimum damage, which means that the damage doesn’t drop off as quickly at range as before. This makes the weapon better especially in ranged combat and from a medium distance.
Extinction
The Vector CRB appears in Extinction on the maps Point of Contact and Nightfall for 1500$. In Point of Contact, it is located on the side of the road near the motel. In Nightfall, it is located at the end of the stairs leading to the radio tower and in the cargo area by a container. With 30 bullets, the magazine capacity is acceptable, but not high. It’s better to buy a better gun like the Maverick or the LSAT. Only the speed with the Vector is an advantage over the other weapons; you move faster while aiming, sprint faster, and reload faster.
Info
Modern Warfare 2
- On the back of the weapon it says “Infinity Ward, Encino CA”.
- Because the dark gray texture of the Vector is a bit darker, the orange color of the autumn camouflage on the Vectur is also a bit darker than on other weapons.
- The character’s hand goes through the magazine. You can’t see this under normal circumstances, but it becomes obvious when you reload or turn to the left with a high visual sensitivity.
- In the Like Old Times mission from Act III of the campaign, you start with a unique black Vector.
Modern Warfare 3
- In the DLC mission Special Delivery, you see several workers shooting with the Vector at the beginning. If you kill them, they won’t drop the weapon.
Black Ops II
- On the side of the gun it says “.45 ACP”.
- On the back of the magazine is the exact same symbol as on the MPL; a die and on both sides is an M. Also, above it is another 45.
- With the firing mode, the Vector shoots volleys of only 2 bullets instead of the usual 3, like the AN-94.
- If you are very fast with the trigger finger, it is actually possible to shoot faster with fire mode than fully automatic.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
