The PSG1 is a semi-automatic sniper rifle from Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Single-player
The PSG1 makes its only appearance in the mission numbers. You can find it in the first and second weapon stashes, and the weapon is extremely powerful, killing the enemy with one shot no matter where you hit. However, the recoil is high, so you should swap it for the more common Dragunov, unless you can handle the recoil.
Multiplayer
The PSG1 counts as a secret weapon and can be purchased after you buy the WA2000 and the L96A1, except on the Wii version where you don’t have to buy the L96A1. Although the gun recoils heavily with each shot, it goes back into the sights quickly and has the highest rate of fire of any sniper rifle in Black Ops. Also, the recoil always hits in the same direction, like the L96A1 and not like the other sniper rifles from the game.
The PSG1 kills in the main game modes without a silencer with a shot to the stomach, chest, neck, or head, and with a silencer it kills only the neck and head. In hardcore game modes, even with a silencer, the gun always kills with one shot no matter where you hit. The Dragunov and WA2000 are better choices here, however, as they do the same damage but have less recoil.
Like all sniper rifles, the PSG1 doesn’t have a large magazine and you have to reload more often. Extended magazines and nimbleness can make up for this, but Nimbleness Pro is useless. There are relatively thick crosses on the scope of the PSG1.
While the weapon is semi-automatic, it is not recommended to rape the trigger as the recoil will cause subsequent shots to miss. It’s best to treat the weapon like a reptilian carbine and wait until it’s back in your sights. Still, the gun’s semi-automatic can help in emergencies, and skilled players can land subsequent shots if they miss – assuming you know how the recoil works out.
In hardcore game modes, the best option is probably the ACOG sight, as it allows you to aggressively go to the front and always land a kill when you hit, even at longer ranges.
Info
- When using the Variable Zoom attachment, it doesn’t matter what stage you’re in, the weapon always says you’re at 12x zoom.
- When you pick it up, the player unlocks the gun first.
- The sights say “Matte 4 Plex Riflescope Redfarm MP 12 x 40mm.”
- In the Wii version of Black Ops, the PSG1 lacks the 1.5 multiplier when shooting in the gut if you have attachments. This problem also existed on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but has been fixed there.
- The kill icon of the PSG1 shows the weapon with extended magazines.
- The PSG1 can be considered the successor to the PTRS-41, as they have a similar look, both do a lot of damage, have high recoil, and each have five bullets in the magazine.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
