The Model 1887 is a shotgun from Winchester as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Campaign
The 1887 model is being used by the Ultranationalists in their armories in Loose Ends and by the Militia in The
Hornet nest and sometimes used in access. You can also see them in the museum.
Multiplayer
The Model 1887 is unlocked at level 67, making it the last available shotgun. Before many patches, it was also considered the most powerful shotgun available. It had the longest range and the option to use it akimbo, which compensated for its slow rate of fire. With patch 1.07, the range was drastically shortened because many people complained that Akimbo shotguns were just too powerful. However, a bug was overlooked and anyone using the Akimbo shotgun with a full metal jacket could still draw from the weapon’s power. This has been corrected in patch 1.08. After patch 1.07, the weapon gradually disappeared from multiplayer because it was outclassed by the SPAS-12, which has a better range, higher rate of fire, and more damage.
Although the wooden barrel of the Model 1887 is sawed-off, it does have precise accuracy. It’s a pretty unique weapon that benefits even more from Steady Hand. The biggest problem is probably the low rate of fire because unless you use the gun Akimbo, you have to reload the barrel after every shot. Akimbo, the Model 1887 has about the same range as the Ranger, but a single 1887 has the same range as before the patch. The gun has an oddly loud reload sound that could give away the player’s position.
Akimbo is useful when catching multiple enemies in close quarters, but this is where Calm Hand helps the most, as the extra increases the chance of getting an instant kill. Full metal jacket bullets give the gun the ability to shoot through objects better, but this doesn’t have much effect in combat because you still have a slow rate of fire, and shotguns aren’t the best weapons for taking down enemies through walls anyway.
It’s best to use the Model 1887 to flank because it’s not particularly useful once you encounter more than one enemy. On most maps, Lightweight is great because the player can quickly run for cover and prepare for the next shot if spotted. Ninja could also be a useful choice since you move around a lot with shotguns and look for combat in close quarters.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
The Model 1887 makes only a brief appearance in Call of Duty: Black Ops, where it appears in the mission Workuta
in conjunction with a motorcycle. She doesn’t appear anywhere else in the game and can now fire two shots before you have to reload. This animation runs much faster than it did in Modern Warfare 2, and thanks to its high damage, it can tear off enemies’ body parts.
In the PC version of the game, you can get her by activating the “give all” cheat. It uses the same stats, reload animation and sounds as the SPAS-12, and its appearance was copied from Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
The Model 1887 makes a reappearance in Modern Warfare 3. In the survival, battle is on the maps with lower
Difficulty every enemy in the first waves armed with one. The look has been modernized compared to the previous games and the weapon now has a black look, with the rear sight of the M1014.
Campaign
The Model 1887 appears only in the mission Reappeared in the hands of the African militia.
Multiplayer
The Model 1887 is unlocked at level 62, making it once again the last shotgun available. It has good damage and range for its class, but it also has the lowest rate of fire, slightly lower than that of the KSG 12. It also has the worst bullet dispersion, worse than that of the AA-12, making one-hit kills extremely rare unless you are shooting at the enemy at close range. This can cause problems if you hit more than one enemy or the first bullet doesn’t sit lethally. If you’re face-to-face, you’ll have to take cover in case the first bullet didn’t get the job done.
Unlike its Modern Warfare 2 predecessor, there are no available attachments for the Model 1887. While the field for attachments is visible, you can’t use it because it’s grayed out.
Since there was an update that made barely used weapons stronger, the Model 1887 has received better stats along with some other weapons to keep up with weapons that are better. More specifically, the range and damage have been increased.
Survival Combat
The Model 1887 is available from the start in Survival Combat and costs $2000. Also, on maps with difficulty levels 1 and 2, all enemies in early waves carry this weapon. The light and medium troops can be killed with one shot, but it must be a direct hit, otherwise it does not kill. The slow rate of fire drags the potential of the weapon down extremely in the process.
Info
General
- The Model 1887 is the oldest weapon available in the games, being 76 years old in Black Ops and a whopping 129 years old in Modern Warfare 2 and 3
- It is the only shotgun in the series that loads 12 blue bullets instead of 12 red bullets
- The Model 1887 was the first weapon in Call of Duty to be made worse by a patch (alongside the Famas from Call of Duty: Black Ops and the Type 95 from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3)
- Despite being the oldest weapon in the series, the Model 1887 did not appear in a single game set in World War 2
- In both Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, the rounds are loaded into the barrel of the gun rather than the magazine when reloading, which is of course completely wrong
Modern Warfare 2
- On Infinity Ward’s website, the model 1887 was chosen as the most popular shotgun
- On snowy maps, there are signs of ice and frost on the gun, similar to the ACR in the mission Cliffhanger
- Along with the Ranger, the Model 1887 has the fewest available attachments, only two, Akimbo and full metal jacket bullets. This does not include the deployment shield and launchers, because they do not have attachments at all
- In the campaign, the weapon in the Akimbo does not exist
- When sprinting, the hand on the front of the weapon disappears, this can best be seen by changing the angle of vision
Black Ops
- The shotgun is extremely powerful and can detonate trucks with one shot
- The 1887 model was originally supposed to appear in Payday, Rebirth and Redemption, but that was cancelled before the game’s release. She was also supposed to appear in multiplayer. In the campaign it was replaced by the KS-23, and in multiplayer by the HS-10, files of which are still in the game files
- The abnormally small crosshairs of the weapon resemble those of the V-R11
- The Model 1887 has the same shooting icon as the SPAS-12
- When using the weapon in the campaign, two blue rounds always fly out of the barrel and the fire settings are semi-automatic. This would not be possible at all without console commands
- The weapon can be double fired before you have to reload
Modern Warfare 3
- The words “Hasta la Vista” are engraved on the weapon, a clear reference to the 1991 film Terminator 2: Judgement Day
- In early clips from Survival, the Model 1887 can be seen with the HUD from Modern Warfare 2
- Along with the launchers and mission shield, the Model 1887 is the only weapon in Modern Warfare 3 that has no attachments in multiplayer
- When pulling the trigger of the weapon you can read “K14”
- The Model 1887 with the gold color also loads gold rounds into the weapon, the same goes for the KSG 12
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
