The Minigun is a machine gun that appears in some places in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Ghosts. Most of the time it’s attached, but in Black Ops II and Ghosts you can also pick up the minigun.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
In Call of Duty 4, Soap uses the minigun in the mission Heat to give his colleagues fire protection from a crashed helicopter behind a church, where the minigun was located. You can also see a minigun in The New One, but you can’t use it because it’s lying around in the weapons cabinet.
The minigun can take down an incredible number of enemies because of its rapid rate of fire, but after a while, it overheats. In some missions, when you get a minigun, you can eliminate enemy helicopters with ease and take out entire squads of enemies at once.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (DS)
The minigun is constantly used in helicopter missions, in which the player is supposed to eliminate enemies on the ground or destroy targets. Unlike its brother on the console, the minigun on the DS doesn’t have to spin before you can fire, and it doesn’t overheat, making it an extremely effective weapon. On the other hand, it is somewhat imprecise.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
The Minigun returns after an absence in Modern Warfare 2. It is now used much more often than it was in Call of Duty 4 and also has a much more realistic starting firing time, meaning you don’t have to shoot as long. In the Team Player mission, a minigun is mounted on a Humvee. It’s also on the back of the black SUVs that Shadow Company uses in The Enemy of My Enemy. The new feature, the automatic gun that appears in the Campaign, Multiplayer and Special Forces, uses the same model.
The minigun on the Humvee is much less accurate and fires in a wild circle around itself, while the miniguns on the helicopters can be controlled nicely. In multiplayer, the minigun appears on the Skidrow, Wasteland, Karachi, Rundown, and Overgrown maps, replacing the M249 SAW as the rightful stationary weapon on multiplayer maps. In Call of Duty 4, players used to shoot in a volley, lay down, shoot again in a volley, and have no problem doing so because the game supported this technique. In Modern Warfare 2, you’re now completely exposed while having to shoot the barrel. In return, the minigun has a higher rate of fire. To control important points, the minigun is just the right weapon, but the user is extremely permissive and therefore an easy target for enemy snipers.
Call of Duty: Black Ops
The minigun appears in Black Ops as one of the helicopter’s support weapons in Redemption. This model is also used in the Helicopter Gunner shootdown series. As a stationary weapon, the Minigun is no longer found on the maps, but you can carry it around in the form of a Deathbringer.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
In the Black Tuesday mission, a minigun is mounted in a UH-60 Blackhawk and is used by Frost to fend off three enemies MI-24 Hinds. On the multiplayer map Bakaara, you can also see a minigun in a crashed helicopter that can be used.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
The minigun appears in the campaign of Black Ops II, where you can use it if you complete five challenges in the Decision Day mission, the same goes for the Deathbringer. The model is taken from the Deathbringer from the first Black Ops installment, and for the most part, the weapon works the same way. In fact, you can’t sprint or aim with it, which has long since changed with the “new” Deathbringer.
There is a short section in Achilles Cloak when you decide to attack Menendez with Farid, where David Mason shoots from a VTOL unit with a minigun. This is the model of the helicopter gunner from Black Ops but without the ammo box.
all of Duty: Ghosts
The Minigun appears as a primary weapon, should someone get the Juggernaut in multiplayer, and as a weapon in Extinction where there are four upgrades for the weapon, also it sometimes appears in gunplay as a weapon level. It has 100 rounds in the magazine and upgrades 1 reduces recoil, upgrade 2 increases headshot damage, upgrade 3 increases overall bullet damage and upgrade 4 doubles the magazine size to 200 bullets.
Info
General
- The minigun uses the same crosshairs as the MG42 from the first game.
- The minigun spins faster when you are in the sights. However, this doesn’t change the damage or rate of fire.
- If you use a sniper rifle in multiplayer and stand by a mounted minigun, you can hold your breath. This doesn’t change the accuracy of the bullets, but the mini-map disappears from the bottom of the screen.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
- In the Heat mission, if the player doesn’t leave the minigun as soon as Captain Price orders it, an enemy grenade will automatically fly to the player’s position and blow him up.
- In Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, you can’t see hands on the weapon when using it.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- When the player aims at the minigun and has the XM25 equipped, its HUD appears and shows the distance, but otherwise, it does nothing.
- The model of the minigun in Bakara was taken directly from Modern Warfare. The miniguns in Modern Warfare 3 are now larger and the character does not put his hand on the weapon when firing.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II
- When the player uses a minigun in Old Wounds and Mason rides the horse with it, he holds it one-handed. This shows that the grip on the side is actually L-shaped because the part that is normally covered by the players left-hand doesn’t even exist on the horse.
Call of Duty: Ghosts
- In the first-person view, the character holds the minigun as if he were left-handed, but in the third-person view, he holds it as if he were right-handed.
- With a maximum of 255 bullets, the minigun in Ghosts has significantly less ammo than the miniguns in the previous games.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
