Single-player

The Barrett .50 caliber is one of a total of three semi-automatic sniper rifles in the game. In the “Deadly Precision” level, the weapon is used by Lieutenant John Price and Captain MacMillan to kill Imran Zakhaev but failed. It has variable zoom, very low recoil, and infinite ammo, unlike in multiplayer. This is the only time the rifle can be used in the campaign. Good weapon for close combat.

Multiplayer

In multiplayer mode, the .50 caliber Barret is unlocked at level 49. Like all sniper rifles, it can be used with an ACOG sight. Due to its large caliber, the Barret is the weapon with the best cartridge penetration. The damage it does is as great as the damage done by the Dragunov and the R700. Since its damage is very high, one hit to the head and chest is enough to kill an opponent.

However, the Barrett .50 caliber also has some disadvantages. For example, the noise that the weapon makes when fired is very high, so it can give away the position of the shooter. Also, its size can blow the camouflage. In addition, its recoil is very large, but the weapon wobbles back to the original target relatively quickly..

Single-player

The .50 caliber Barrett can be found during the campaign in the missions “On Your Own Responsibility”, with a variable zoom thermal sight, “Emergency” and “Loose Ends”. In Special Ops, the Barrett can be used in the missions “Sharp Shot”, “Storming the Estate” and “Tank Breaker”. Unlike in multiplayer, the Barrett has a lower rate of fire and more realistic recoil in single player. The weapon is very suitable for kamof against juggernauts. It takes three shots to the head or six hits to the chest to kill a Juggernaut.

Multiplayer

Starting at level 3, the Barrett .50 cal is available as part of one of the standard classes. It has a high rate of fire, but due to the recoil you should wait until the sights have stabilized and moved back to the starting point before firing again. If you are surprised by an enemy player, you can fire as a last resort on the off chance that the rate of fire will be profitable.

With the sniper rifle, players can be killed instantly with a shot to the head or chest, or with firepower with a shot to the stomach, provided the target does not benefit from the effects of the Painkiller or Last Stand! death series or the Extra Eliminator. If the weapon is used together with a silencer, you should use the Extra Firepower, otherwise a hit to the chest will have non-lethal effects. In Hardcore mode, a hit with the Barret kills instantly, regardless of where you hit.

The biggest disadvantage of the weapon is its significant recoil, which often causes the shooter to lose his target after a shot. A .50 caliber Barrett with an ACOG sight does not have this disadvantage, but this combination is not ideal for long range shooting due to the low magnification.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

As in the predecessors, the Barrett Cal. 50 also appears in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Special Forces

Missions
In the Special Forces mission Invisible Threat it is possible for the sniper (only possible if there are two players on the map) to use the Barrett Cal. 50. Furthermore, this weapon does not appear anymore.

Survival
In survival combat, the weapon costs $2,000 and can be equipped with an ACOG sight for an additional $1,250. The player can take 7 magazines, this corresponds to 70 bullets, before he has to get new ones for 750$.

The weapon does especially well in the first waves on clear maps, as it kills every enemy up to soldier level with one shot.

The only drawback is the semi-automatic – the gun pulls away upwards every time after firing, which complicates rapid fire, but doesn’t make it impossible with enough practice.

Multiplayer

The Barrett Cal. 50 is already available to the player in one of the 5 standard classes. From rank 4 (Private First Class) the weapon can also be entered manually in the class editor. The magazine holds 10 bullets and for extended magazines 15 bullets. The following attachments can be put on the weapon:

ACOG sight

  • Silencer
  • Heartbeat sensor
  • Extended magazines
  • Thermal sight
  • Variable zoom

In addition, it is also possible to screw skills onto the weapon. These would be:

Recoil

  • Hit
  • Attachments
  • Concentration
  • Speed
  • Stability

The disadvantage of this weapon, however, is that it makes the player very slow and also has an enormous recoil. So it is usually already deadly to shoot past.

Call of Duty

The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
