MAININFO
The AK-47 is a Russian Sturmgewehr, which has been around since 1947.
They are very common in single player, as both OpFor and Ultranationalists use them as their main weapon. The AK-47 has a high rate of fire, high damage, is quite accurate but has a very high recoil. You can occasionally find them with a grenade launcher.
The weapon is very popular in multiplayer, which is due to the fact that it is an “all-rounder”, i.e. it can be used well at long range thanks to the moderate recoil, good precision and high damage, and it also performs well at short range thanks to the high rate of fire and very high damage. Due to these properties, it is superior to the other assault rifles in some respects. (Recoil is much weaker in multiplayer than in single player.
Call of Duty: World at War
The AK-47 returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but it’s completely changed. The grip, buttstock, magazine and front part of the AK are now camouflaged with a sand camouflage, the butt is more modern and no longer made of wood (it is most likely detachable and similar to that of the AK-12). A bracket for mounting a telescopic sight has now also been installed, and the sound when firing the AK has changed, since there is now a flash hider on the muzzle of the barrel, which softens the sound a bit. The ultra-nationalists and the Brazilian militia still use the AK-47 frequently. Many of them have ACOG sights, GP-25 grenade launchers or red dot sights mounted on their AKs. However, AKs with holographic sights have also been seen, e.g. in “Exodus” or in “Wolverines!”. In the museum you can find an AK with a thermal sight that has almost no recoil at all.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
