While Riot Games is currently busily converting the highest level of “Valorant” to a franchise model, causing disappointment among many organizations and fans, the regional leagues of the tactical shooter will come to a close starting July 28, 2022: A tournament of all regional champions from the previous – Season will determine the champion among champions. Teams from seven regional competitions will compete for 150,000 euros in prize money.
VRL Finals 2022 – dates and format
- Group stage: 28 – 31 July 2022
- Final round: August 2 – 5, 2022
The group stage was supposed to feature two pools of four teams each, but with no play in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region all year due to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, one group will have to make do with just three participants. The competitors meet there in best-of-3 matches, with the top two teams advancing to the final round.
Double-elimination is played in the play-offs, with the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final being best-of-5 games, and the rest continuing in a best-of-3 format.
