Valorant throws its biggest feature overboard

Valorant introduces classic Free4All deathmatch, completely omitting tactical skills.

The release of Episode 1 Act 2 in Valorant is about to kick off. You can expect in Update 1.05 the new agent Killjoy (from Germany), a new deathmatch game mode, act ranks and a variety of smaller improvements.

Especially the Deathmatch mode is striking, as it completely does away with Valorant’s biggest feature, the skills, and thus reminds us even more of CS:GO in terms of gameplay. In this article, we’ll tell you exactly what’s in the new update. But first, we’ll give you the most important information:

  • When does Update 1.05 start? On August 5th around 09:00 in the morning the update work should be finished. Patch 1.05 including the new agent Killjoy should be available then.
  • When does Deathmatch start? For now, the new mode comes only as a beta version and, moreover, for limited time slots. Already on the day of release, Wednesday, August 5, the first run begins.

What’s in the update?

Patch 1.05 includes many new features for Valorant:

New agent

The new heroine Killjoy comes from Germany and takes her engineering skills to the battlefield. This includes a placeable gun turret, which allows her to hold a bomb site all by herself sometimes. Read what else Killjoy has up her sleeve in our feature:

Deathmatch mode

Valorant’s new deathmatch game mode completely renounces skills. The rules are simple and focus on gunplay:

  • 10 players, everyone vs. everyone, respawn enabled
  • Whoever scores 30 frags first wins the game. Otherwise, whoever has the most kills after 6 minutes wins.
  • No hero skills
  • Everyone starts with a random agent – which remains purely cosmetic without skills.
  • Only your weapon skill counts.
  • Heavy shields are awarded automatically.
  • All weapons are available for free.
  • Frags make healing boxes appear, which also reload the weapon.
  • All enemies appear regularly on the mini-map.

Act ranks

From now on, Valorant will represent your achievements in ranked mode at the end of each act by a special emblem is a special emblem. Here you can see how many matches you have won at the respective rank. The whole thing looks like this:Valorant gives you a fancy emblem to highlight your achievements in Ranked mode.
