Valorant Streamer’s Controversial Stand

Time and again, public figures are criticized for making toxic statements on the Internet. Just recently, for example, a Japanese professional player was kicked off her team for making toxic remarks towards men. Shortly after, homophobic remarks by another player from the same team came to light and he was also fired.

Currently, 26-year-old Twitch streamer and former Counterstrike pro JasonR is facing increased allegations of Sexism and misogyny express. Apparently he mutes female players and actively ignores them in games, like Valorant. If he discovers a woman in his lobby before the game starts, he leaves the match. He is repeatedly criticized harshly for this. Among other things, he justifies himself by saying that his game simply crashes frequently.

JasonR earns criticism from other streamers as well

JasonR is currently again Sexism and disrespectful behavior towards women accused. His Twitch colleagues also criticize him, including ShaZam from the e-sports organization Sentinels. The latter criticizes in particular JasonR’s alleged practice of muting women in Valorant or actively ignoring them: “He just mutes every woman on his team in Ranked, or walks out of the game if there’s a woman on his team. That’s not shit-talking, I’m just saying that to me that’s weird behavior, and that’s not okay.”, ShaZam said of JasonR.

Another person who has commented on Jason R is streamer Pokimane. At Twitter she reports speaks out and praises the people who talk about JasonR’s behavior. In doing so, she speaks of “blatant sexism”.

Not the first incident of this kind

There have already been sexist incidents involving streamer JasonR in the past. He is accused that he and his wife have banned female viewers. In a clip that has since been deleted, he is said to be derogatory towards women have made comments derogatory to women, as this three-year-old Reddit post shows. JasonR’s statement read as follows: “People need to understand that every damn girl on Twitch. [eine] little fucking whore.” The ban for this statement followed directly.

What does JasonR say about the accusations?

In his Twitch chat, he responds to the call: “Stop being disrespectful to women.”, as follows: “How do I act disrespectfully toward women? I do not talk to them. […] Sorry, I didn’t know that not interacting with them was disrespectful. My bad. Is this some new shit you fucking pussies are crying about?”, JasonR he said in a Clip.

He would also ignore women only because that, in turn, was respectful to his wife. He also emphasizes that he supports neither misogyny nor sexism.

Statement published on YouTube

In addition to these short clips, he has also released a longer video on YouTube, reading out a pre-written text. In the video he presents himself as Victim of hate attacks and denies ever having engaged in sexist behavior. The statement from three years ago, in which he called girls “whores,” was taken out of context.

Further, he says that ShaZam lied about leaving games to not play with women. Also, he finds that all the tweets against him were made by Haters are written and he has done nothing wrong. The debate around JasonR is very emotionally charged on both sides.
