Valorant: Skadoodle sent to bench by T1 – agent pool too small?

T1, one of the most successful teams in NA, is benching Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham for now. The player doesn’t have enough varsity in the agent pool.

The Valorant scene in North America is pretty intense, as there are several top teams fighting for first place. So far, TSM is definitely the more dominant team in the region with numerous titles behind them. T1, a team that is really good in theory, has been somewhat unsuccessful so far. In the recent Pittsburgh Knights Gauntlet, the team played without their star player – Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham. Team captain Daniel “from” Montaner stepped in for him.

Skadoodle worried his fans about his sporting future in Riot’s new shooter and released an update:

“As you may have noticed, I have not been able to compete with the team and will not be playing in the event this weekend. I’ve been working hard to expand my agent pool and overall experience with OP, and will be back with T1 when the time is right. But in the meantime, I’ll be with other teams to stay on the ball. I’ll be back soon – and better than ever.”

It’s certainly a tough decision – the decision to step back from one of the biggest teams in order to improve its capabilities. There’s still no guarantee we’ll see Skadoodle back with T1 anytime soon, but at least we know why. In the long run, he will play in other teams before eventually returning to the org.

Background

Skadoodle’s position in T1 was called into question in the past when two of his teammates inadvertently revealed their chat during a stream. Austin “Crashies” Roberts and Victor “Food” Wong mentioned here that the former CS:GO star was holding them back heavily.

It’s unclear which team Skadoodle will join to hone his skills, but we’re pretty sure it won’t be one of the big organizations. We’re really impressed with his performance with Sage, but it would be nice to see him do well with other agents as well. In the meantime, T1 could start looking for a replacement player (temporary or not). For now, the team’s coach will probably play as a substitute for Skadoodle.

What do you guys think? Was Skadoodle really the biggest problem in the T1 lineup? Or is it just the lack of team synergy? Tell us on Facebook!
