Valorant players let the enemy win to hurt them – eSportsNews eSports – Valorant

players have discovered a strange exploit: it makes more sense to let the enemy win in some turns to grant victory by suicidethan to win yourself. And the game mechanics make this tactic possible.

True to the motto “You can’t kill me if I do it myself!”, they thus finish the job with the help of the of Brimstone or Raze their entire team, preventing the opponent from doing so.

What do the players get out of it?

The enemy team wastes its 3,000 credits for victory to buy equipment, but doesn’t get the regular credit bonuses for kills, or the Ultimate Orbs to use their best skills.

The “loser”, on the other hand, receives 1,900 credits for the round lost and 500 more and more for each subsequent round until they have a Maximum of 2,900 credits get. Since they don’t expect to win the respective rounds anyway, they don’t mind the victory point for the enemy.

In summary the situation is as follows:

  • Team 1 wins the pistol round and starts round 2 with SMGs
  • Team 2 buys nothing in round 2 and commits suicide. Team 1 gets no bonus money for kills and the like.
  • Team 1 now has to play round 3 with SMGs.
  • Team 2 buys armor, rifles and utilities in turn 3.

Does this really make sense?

On Reddit, players are discussing whether it really makes sense to implement this tactic. For example, user Attica451 notes that you get 200 credits for every kill. If an entire one takes care of itself, the opponent is thus missing 1,000 credits in the next round. On the other hand, if you manage to kill a single enemy with one armor and Spectre, you already cost the enemy 2,600 credits.

However, very many other users like fluxty and SkitzoControl think it’s worth it. The damage you do to the opponent, is worth the further defeat. Thus, with this approach, one could equalize the odds again despite a donated round.

Are there any potential countermeasures?

The community wants a fix for this. Ideas for it are taken from the role model Counter-Strike. Because it once suffered from a very similar problem. A number of things caused the tactical shooter to suffer from a similar problem. for remedy:

  • Team damage is multiplied at the beginning of the round.
  • Anyone who does too much damage to their team will be temporarily excluded from matchmaking.
  • The opposing team receives the usual kill reward for suicides.

Since this is an exploit and not a cheat, even Valorant’s anti-cheat tool Vanguard won’t help. Because this tactic happens fully within the rules of the game. However, if the developer Riot Games classifies it as unfair behavior, then there could still be bans.
