Valorant is currently in Act 2 Episode 2 and the newest character added to the game was Astra. I wonder what the Valorant agent 16 will be called?
With each new episode, more and more agents are added to the game. We are already at agent 15, Astra was released in Act 2 Episode 2 and has really shaken up the meta, but what is known about agent 16?
When will Valorant Agent 16 be released?
We think that Agent 16 will be released on June 22. Act 2 Episode 3 came out on April 27 and brought with it the new map Breeze. Maybe it will bring a new agent as well…. This short trailer has already been quite celebrated by the fans.
It feels a little strange that Riot hasn’t released any teasers for an upcoming Agent yet. However, we could still be wrong and get a new Agent with Act 2 Episode 3 after all, but for now it looks bleak. Chances are that the next Agent will appear in Valorant with Act 1 Episode 3. But then what the heck does that weird character in the new Battle Pass mean?
Which country will the new agent come from?
An agent from the Middle East could make sense.
While many players thought that this might be a teaser for the new agent, unfortunately, it only announced the Strike Arabia tournament.
That doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of a Middle Eastern agent though… Considering that Valorant is trying to be as inclusive as possible, we will probably see agents from all parts of the world, so why not from the Middle East? Well, for now, we have no choice but to wait and see.
What will Agent 16’s role be?
Agent 16 will probably be an initiator. In Valorant, agents are divided into classes. There are four classes in total: Duelist, Initiator, Controller, and Sentinel. The distribution of the 15 agents so far looks like this:
- 5 Duelists
- 4 controllers
- 3 initiators
- 3 Sentinels
The last two agents that were released were a controller and a duelist, so agent 16 will probably be either an initiator or a sentinel. We suspect it will be an Initiator because Sova is dominating the meta right now. An alternative would be nice. Although a Sentinel would be just as cool.
Agent 16 – Codename and Skills
The name of Agent 16 in Valorant was initially leaked as “Grenadier”. In the meantime we know more, just let it continue.
We can expect some concentrated firepower, it seems. In a recent blog post, Valorant Character Producer John Goscicki revealed more about the new agent:
This time we’re adding some abilities that should feel familiar to people who have played traditional FPS games all their lives. But with additional elements that will make these recognizable abilities unique within our roster. The agent will have moments in the game where you’ll have to rely on your gunplay due to its utility.
Agent 16 teaser
Attentive players now discovered the first clues about the new agent. The first was a knife in a box.
Also, a sign on Breeze now says “arrival imminent.” The knife in the tweet above is presumably a teaser of the new agent’s abilities. Fans are already theorizing that the agent could suppress enemy abilities. That’s certainly an interesting guess, and we’re curious to see how that will fit in with the whole “classic FPS” type of agent. Another teaser was released during Summer Game Fest.
A first impression of the new agent and from the looks of it, it’s a Killjoy robot…? In the last few days the official Valorant Twitter account has been taken over by Killjoy and the agent has been posting quite often. Is the new robot agent 16? It sure looks like it. Another tweet basically confirmed that the new agent will probably have some sort of ability that prevents enemy abilities.
In addition, the codename “Bounty Hunter” was leaked. So the agent will not be called “Grenadier” after all. But maybe we are talking about two different agents? Just visit us again for more updates – Riot will release more hints.
Apparently, Agent 16 will be aimed at all traditional FPS players. Whether that means we’ll see less utility remains to be seen. The new Agent will come with Patch 3.0, which will no doubt come with Episode 3 Act 1 on June 22.
