Without prior notice, developer Respawn Entertainment has released a new update to Apex Legends has been released. The approximately one gigabyte patch has been available for download since yesterday evening and comes up with a few interesting new features.

New squad function, mute function and more

You know how it is: you’ve just had a really good round with randomly placed players and you’d like to compete again with your old squad. With the new update for “Apex Legends” this is now possible without any problems, because from now on you can comfortably invite players from the previous squad into your group and start again immediately.

However, this option can also be completely disabled in the menu. Also new is the option to mute other players during legend selection and the intro. The UI during legend selection has also been minimally changed.

Another innovation that was not officially included in the Patchnotes Communicated concerns a penalty for leaving games early. If you leave three games in a row before the round is over or your squad is eliminated, you will not be able to search for a new game for five minutes. However, this feature was apparently not yet intended for the live servers and was initially disabled again.

The leaving early penalty that went live with the patch today was not intended so we’ve disabled it for all platforms.

Other innovations:

• When reporting players in the PC version, you can now select “Cheater” or “Other” as the reason.

• Lighting of compatible hardware (for example Razer Chroma) can now be disabled in the menu
• New messages that lead to the detection of crashes (for example, when the RAM is too low, overheating of the CPU).
• Improvements in general stability on all platforms
• Fixed a bug on the Battle Pass rewards page. No default item was selected there, which could lead to a blank page
• Fixed a bug on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One where the game would attempt to use chats with the keyboard. This could lead to a fatal script error
• Improved the collisions with the guns of the supply ships
• More behind-the-scenes changes to better detect cheaters
• Octanes Jump pad no longer works when players use the ability Into the Void From Wraith USE

After the update of “Apex Legends”, a serious error occurred that affected numerous players. According to this, it could happen that after logging in, any progress already made was lost.

Hundreds of players contacted the developers via Reddit and reported the loss of all progress, only the existing Apex Coins were still there. At 7:40 p.m., the servers went offline in order to find the error, which the creators managed to do relatively quickly.

We are aware and looking into the issue with accounts losing their progress after the update today. Will provide update ASAP.

Apex Legends: Octane’s jump pad makes for a winning round

Around 11 p.m., Respawn Entertainment announced that they had fixed the bug in “Apex Legends” and that all unlocked content shoud now be available again as usual. You can download the update without any problems, if you have waited with the download after the problems.
