Actually, Ubisoft wanted to take several games off the net today. However, the publisher decided to extend the deadline. Among others, several “Assassin’s Creed” titles are affected.
After Ubisoft announced a few weeks agothat the servers of several older games would be taken offline today, the company made a temporary step back. Accordingly, several of the affected “Assassin’s Creed” games can still be played online until October 1.
The plans to postpone the shutdown of the “Assassin’s Creed” multiplayer servers were announced in a post on the Ubisoft forums. They are probably due to the fact that these games still have a comparatively high number of players.
Nevertheless, it remains that the shutdown is still planned despite the delay. Below you can see a list of the affected “Assassin’s Creed” games, whose servers and DLCs will be decommissioned later:
- Assassin’s Creed 2 – PS3 (Release 2009)
- Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood – PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360 (2010 release)
- Assassins Creed Revelations – PS3, Xbox 360 (2011 release)
- Assassin’s Creed 3 – PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360 (2012 release)
- Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD – PC (release 2014)
More games will be shut down
On October 1, 2022, it’s not just “Assassin’s Creed” games that will be hit. Driver San Francisco, Far Cry 3 (2012 release), Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (PC), Rayman Legends, Silent Hunter 5 (PC), Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and ZombiU (Wii U) will also be taken offline.
The complete List with more details you can have a look at the website of Ubisoft.
In the case of the PC versions, not only the servers will be taken offline on October 1, 2022. Players will also have to do without DLC purchases and downloads.
As the announcement states, “If you own these games on PC, activate your DLCs to continue playing them before the shutdown on October 1, 2022. Single-player DLCs for consoles will be unaffected and can still be downloaded and played after October 1, 2022.”
