The League of Legends botlane usually features a ranged fighter with attack damage (AD Carry). However, the highest victory rates have just a mage and a supporter, but they take the position of the AD-Carry. As a villain, the players have identified the champion Senna.
What is this duo? In the current patch 12.12, Tahm Kench has a 56.52% win rate in Botlane and Seraphine has a 54.49% win rate – if you look at the games in Platinum League or higher (via u.gg).
This not only makes them the strongest champions in the botlane, but also ranks them No. 1 and – No. 2 for the highest win rates ever in the game. Volibear currently lands in 3rd place in the Jungle with 54.18%.
What makes the champions stand out? Both benefit immensely from their supporter Senna.
Senna’s goal is to collect as many stacks of Black Souls as possible and annoy enemies with damage from afar. She is not played as a classic support, but builds AD items later. This technique is called “Fasting Senna” and was already very popular in 2020.
- Tahm Kench can farm a lot of minions in the common matchup and become a strong tank especially quickly. Generally, he endures a lot in botlane fights and has CC. This ensures that the combo can stay in the botlane for a long time and thus collect many souls.
- Seraphine on the other hand focuses fully on magic in runes and the items. Her great strength is the CC, with which she can control enemies, and her damage at range through the “Q” and “E”. Together with Senna she can generate an incredible amount of poke and playing against them is correspondingly annoying, because Seraphine and Senna both have healing in addition.
LoL is currently running the “Star Guardian” event. This video gives an insight:
Seraphine and Tahm Kench got nerfs but are still really strong
What is Riot Games doing about it? Not enough, at least that’s what the players say. Seraphine got a nerf with patch 12.12. Her scaling with AP in the notes and the duration from CC were reduced. Tahm Kench was also weakened. His life and damage from passives were weakened.
But at the same time, Riot Games gave Senna a small buff. Her health increased by 30 and the damage from her Q was slightly weakened in the earlygame, but slightly increased in the lategame.
Senna, however, is exactly the problem that many players have identified (via reddit). While the supporter herself has a lower win rate, it skyrockets when combined with Seraphine or Tahm Kench. Senna is also often combined with real AD Carrys, while the other two champions are almost exclusively used with Senna.
How can you counter this? With more poke. If you want to defeat Tahm Kench and Senna in the earlygame, you need a supporter with a lot of damage in the botlane like Ashe, Seraphine or Karma and a carry with a lot of poke in the earlygame like Ezreal or Ziggs.
Another hope could be the upcoming patch 12.13, which is expected to be released on July 13. However, there are currently no nerfs for the three mentioned champions on the test server. However, a new AD carry will be released in patch 12.13: LoL brings a mobile new heroine, Nilah, but her strengths lie elsewhere – These are her skills.
